Latest DeAndre Hopkins odds: Where will the NFL wide receiver land?

It has been an offseason of change for the Arizona Cardinals. That became even more apparent last Friday as the team released star wideout DeAndre Hopkins. The stunning move followed months of speculation that Arizona was looking for a suitable trading partner.

Arizona has taken a massive $22.6 million dead cap hit as a result of its decision to move on. As for Hopkins, the 30-year-old receiver will be a highly sought-after commodity on the open market.

The Bills take the top spot on the board. The high-powered offense finished second in the league a season ago with an average of 28.4 points per game. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are the defending champions and the current favorites to win Super Bowl 58. The wide receiver corps would get an immediate lift if Hopkins were to come to town to catch passes from MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes.

The Ravens and Jets have taken steps to improve their offenses over the offseason, adding Odell Beckham Jr. and Aaron Rodgers, respectively. Sportsbook odds have the two clubs as legitimate playoff contenders in the AFC, and a player of Hopkins’ caliber would likely just further enhance that.

Other top NFL teams to land Hopkins

Hopkins has already noted that he’s intrigued by the notion of playing with an elite QB, specifically mentioning Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts. The Eagles and Chargers are also among the top dozen candidates in betting odds to sign him as a result.

On the NFC side, the DeAndre Hopkins odds have the Lions in front of the Eagles, with the Cowboys and 49ers hovering behind the top contenders. Beyond considering the ideal fits, there’s also the matter of fitting Hopkins under the salary cap

While it all depends on the final numbers, each of the leading candidates would have to shift things around, and that would be easier said than done in several cases. From a bottom-line perspective, betting odds for Week 1 suggest that Hopkins could be suiting up for a contender.

What does this mean for the Cardinals?

It was already looking like a challenging season for the Cardinals. After closing out last year at 4-13 while riding a seven-game skid, the club cleaned house and hired Jonathan Gannon as its new head coach and Monti Ossenfort as its general manager.

Arizona is currently at the bottom of the board when it comes to odds to win the Super Bowl. It’s the same story when it comes to winning the NFC West, as the club is behind the 49ers, Rams and Seahawks as far as the odds are concerned.

The team also has one of the lowest lines for total wins in the NFL at . Betting odds are out for the club’s first four games of the regular season.

The Cardinals are sizable underdogs for all four games. While there’s still talent in Arizona, with Marquise Brown and Rondale Moore now atop the WR depth chart, it’s looking as though a season of rebuilding is on the way in the desert.
