Top favorites handle business for the second straight week
For each of the first five weeks of the NFL season, there was at least one surprising upset that eliminated a host of survivor pool contestants. Things have settled down the last two weeks as big favorites have handled business.
The Circa Sportsbook survivor pool kicked off with 14,226 entrants. Heading into Week 7, just 216 remained alive.
Just five teams were picked more than twice: the Rams, Commanders, Bills, Jaguars, and Bengals. All five teams went on to win, leaving those survivor pool contestants alive for another week.
Biggest moneyline favorites for NFL Week 8 games
Four clubs have an implied win probability of 80% or greater based on the current moneyline odds. First up, the 5-1 Lions are massive favorites as they welcome the Titans, losers of two straight and 1-5 on the season.
The Ravens are 5-2 as they visit the 1-6 Browns. The hits keep coming for Cleveland, a team that has dropped five straight and lost Deshaun Watson for the year to an Achilles injury.
The Chiefs take their perfect 6-0 record on the road to visit the Raiders. Las Vegas has lost three straight to fall to 2-5 and will be without Aidan O’Connell for several weeks due to a thumb injury.
Lastly, the Broncos are hefty home favorites for a visit from the Panthers. Denver is 4-3, while Carolina is 1-6 and riding a four-game losing streak.
The rest of the Week 8 schedule
For the remaining 12 games, nine of them have a favorite with an implied probability of 60% or greater. That leaves us with three potential toss-ups, all of which are matchups of teams jockeying for position in NFL playoff odds.
The Eagles are 4-2 as they visit the 3-4 Bengals. Both clubs have won two straight, and both entered the season among the top 10 teams in preseason Super Bowl odds.
The Bears, meanwhile, will visit the Commanders for a potential showdown of the top two favorites in NFL Rookie of the Year odds. Caleb Williams leads the way for Chicago, while Jayden Daniels is questionable with a rib injury for Washington.
And the Falcons will take on the Buccaneers in an NFC South showdown. Both teams are 4-3 and battling it out for the lead in division winner odds.
