Comparing the top 6 NFL betting sites

1. Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars has a reputation as one of the top NFL betting sites for two reasons: a well-rounded rewards program and competitive prop odds. The company has a partnership with the NFL and was the first casino sponsor for the league.

There’s a lot to like about Caesars beyond the initial welcome promotion. Retention bonuses include profit boosts for select single-game parlays. As far as odds, the book is competitive for player props in various sports.

The Caesars Sportsbook app has seen improvement over time. The user experience is stable, with quick transitions to different sports and betting options. Live betting is also responsive and similar to the experience on platforms like DraftKings.

2. BetMGM Sportsbook

BetMGM features a strong casino brand, but it also stands out as an NFL betting site with its live-streaming options. Beginning with the 2022 season, BetMGM partnered with NBC Sports for integration with the weekly “Football Night in America” program that airs prior to “Sunday Night Football.”

BetMGM sportsbook delivers a solid online and mobile experience with some distinct features and similar design layouts optimized for both. The layout for individual NFL games and the one-game parlay builder are nice touches.

The betting experience also includes live streaming for select games. It’s one of the better choices when viewing games while placing bets, with available screen customization and options. While the Android app has had issues in the past, it’s seen modest recent improvement. We’d like to see the addition of customer service within the app.

3. BetRivers Sportsbook

One of BetRivers’ main strengths as a football betting site is its parlay profit boosts. The book also has a good rewards program that lets bettors earn points based on their wagering. All of the top NFL bets are available and easy to find. The Chicago Bears have a multi-year partnership with the BetRivers sportsbook and casino entities.

Besides the NFL, you can find parlay boosts for various sports and leagues at specific times of the week. The sportsbook has recently switched to a universal app instead of state-specific versions.

Additional features for NFL games include built-in stats and injury information for each game listing. You can also build same-game parlays and combo bets with ease and see the most popular bets for individual games.

4. FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel is another sports betting leader that has proven to be a popular NFL betting site for its DFS combination. The company also has a deal with the league, part of a tri-sportsbook agreement alongside DraftKings and Caesars. Additionally, FanDuel has a partnership with the Washington Commanders.

If you’re looking for a quick sportsbook app, FanDuel is one of the top places to go. The clean layout makes it easy to navigate the various options. Multiple bets appear under expandable sections, making it easier to browse through all the options.

Another benefit is for existing daily fantasy sports customers. There’s a shared wallet between sports betting and DFS activity. While depositing doesn’t work on both, you can use any winnings on either to place bets or enter a DFS contest.

5. Bet365 Sportsbook

Bet365 has emerged as one of the best football betting sites because of its NFL — and overall — betting variety. It has multiple international locations and continues to expand further in the United States. It has a partnership with the NFL through Genius Sports and an agreement with the Washington Commanders.

What makes bet365 sportsbook a popular football betting option? It’s one of the better choices for the variety of sports on which you can bet, including the NFL. Along with the number of sports is an even larger number of available bets. After the welcome bonus, retention promos and early payouts for blowout games are available for bettors.

The design and layout are simple, creating a quick navigation experience on most computers and mobile devices. It’s not as flashy as other options on this list, but it’s more suited for experienced bettors who prefer thorough options.

6. DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings is a top NFL betting site that does a good job with its retention promotions. It is a recognized leader in US sports betting, with a large focus on NFL odds. The website and app offer an array of helpful features, while the list of NFL bets is long. DraftKings has a multi-year partnership with the NFL and has integrated odds with Amazon’s “Thursday Night Football” package.

Bonuses are the best part of the DraftKings experience — popular leagues like the NFL and NBA are part of bonuses almost daily. Additionally, there’s a rewards program and missions to complete to get more bonuses.

The sportsbook continues to implement improvements in its app for a more fluid experience. However, we still have had some loading issues when switching to different sports on the sportsbook website and loading up bonuses on the Android app.

How to choose an NFL betting site

Sportsbook bonuses

Many of the top betting sites offer welcome promotions to new customers, examples of which you can see at the top of this page. Common promos include deposit bonuses or matches. While there are several options to choose from, not all bonuses are equal.

Prior to accepting and attempting to claim any sportsbook promotions, be sure to review the terms and conditions. It’s important to have a full understanding of the relevant deposit or playthrough requirements.

Multiple betting options

All of the top online sportsbooks will feature moneylines, totals, and player props for betting on the NFL. Several of them may also have additional offerings and new features.

FanDuel Sportsbook has been one of the driving forces behind making same-game parlays such a popular part of the football betting landscape. Meanwhile, BetMGM’s easy parlay feature helps bettors put together multi-leg wagers.

Odds pricing

Since the NFL is the most popular sport for betting, odds and lines will move frequently. Some sportsbooks are better at staying in line with the market, while others can lag behind and take some time to align.

Caesars Sportsbook tends to be on point with overall market sentiment at the initial release of weekly odds. However, it can sometimes be off the pace for certain bets as the week moves along, while FanDuel tends to update quickly in response to market sentiment.

Banking options

Most online sportsbooks will require an initial deposit for you to qualify for the sign-up bonus. Each site has its own rules for the minimum and maximum deposit amounts. In many cases, the minimum deposit is $10, but that can vary from book to book.

Payout speed

If a bet wins, the sportsbook will credit the funds to your account. From there, you can leave the money in your account or make a withdrawal. Withdrawals have to go through an additional approval step before the sportsbook releases the funds. In most cases, it will take 24 hours, but it can take longer during particularly busy periods. BetRivers is among the sportsbooks that tend to regularly expedite the process.

How to download and use NFL betting apps

Once you’ve selected which site you want to use for betting on the NFL, you can be ready to wager in a matter of minutes. Here are the steps:

  1. Create a new account. Click one of the links on this page to begin the sign-up process at your sportsbook of choice. From there, follow the instructions, enter your information, and complete the registration process.
  2. Claim any welcome bonuses. Some sportsbooks may ask for a promo code at some point during registration. For example, at Caesars Sportsbook, you’ll enter the promo code LSR1000 to qualify for up to $1,000 back as a bonus bet if your first bet loses.
  3. Download the sportsbook app. You can also download the sportsbook app, particularly if you plan to wager via a mobile device. Once you’re logged in, you can click the icons on the website to get started, or visit the sportsbook directly from your mobile browser.
  4. Make a deposit. After your account is all set, you’ll need to make a deposit to be able to place bets. At many sportsbooks, it’s as simple as clicking the “deposit” button once you’re logged in. From there, follow the instructions and choose your banking method. Deposit options at most books include PayPal and online banking.
  5. Check available bets. Begin by reviewing the latest NFL odds and wagers. If you find a bet that you’re interested in placing, click the odds to add it to your betting slip. Next, add in the amount that you wish to wager, verify that everything is correct, and click to place the bet.

Where to legally bet on the NFL online

It’s legal to bet on the NFL online in nearly half of the states in the US plus Washington, DC, and north of the border in Canada. The latest state to introduce legal online sports betting was Kentucky. States that appear likely to launch in 2024 include North Carolina.

How to bet on the NFL

There will be dozens of ways to bet on any given NFL game. Here are the most popular options:

Moneyline betting

A moneyline bet is where you are wagering on which team will win a game. The odds number will typically be negative for the favorite in the matchup and positive for the underdog. The range between the numbers indicates the perceived closeness of the matchup in the eyes of the sportsbook.

Example: The Detroit Lions (underdog) are +134 on the moneyline in week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens (favorite) which are -158 on the moenyline.

Spread betting

The point spread is a number the sportsbook sets that essentially represents the perceived difference between the two teams. You can bet on the favorite minus the spread number or the underdog plus that same number. To win the bet, the side that you choose has to “cover” the spread. This means that the favorite has to win by an amount greater than the spread, or that the underdog has to keep the margin less than the spread or win the game outright.

Example: The favorite Kansas City Chiefs are -5.5 on the spread this week against the underdog Los Angeles Chargers, who are +5.5 on the spread.

Over/under betting

This refers to the over/under for total points in a game. Sportsbooks will provide a line, such as 49.5 points. Bettors can then wager on whether the game’s final combined score will be over or under that number. For a general range, totals can start at 40 points or less for games that sportsbooks expect to be lower scoring and rise to 50 or greater for matchups in which books anticipate more points.

Example: The total for this week’s Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos game is set at 45 points. Anything less than 45, the under will win, and anything more than 45, the over will win.

Prop betting

A prop bet is a side wager on a smaller aspect within a game. The menu of options is long for NFL games and includes props based on the accomplishments of individual players or teams or the game itself. Player props are on statistical accomplishments of an individual player during a game. Examples include betting on a player to score a touchdown at any point during the game, or an over/under wager on total passing yards for a starting quarterback.

Example: This week Josh Allen’s passing yard prop is set at 250.5 yards. To win the over, he must throw for at least 251 yards.

Parlays

A parlay is a wager that incorporates bets from multiple NFL games onto a single slip. To win, you need all of your selections on the slip to be correct. For example, you could place a parlay bet with moneyline wagers on two or more games. Options include various other combinations, such as spread picks and over/under wagers from several games.

Example: A two-game parlay with the Buccaneers and Colts both on the moneyline has +312 odds on FanDuel. Both of these teams would need to win for you to win your wager.

Same-game parlays

Same-game parlays are also multi-leg wagers. They differ from standard parlays in that all of the selections come from a single contest, but the same standard rule applies: You must get all of your picks right to win. For example, a same-game parlay could include picking a team to win, betting on a player to score a touchdown in that game, and wagering over or under for one of the starting quarterbacks’ total passing yards.

Example: A same-game parlay for this week could look like the following: Raiders -2.5 on the spread, and over 37.5 total points in the game. These give you +233 odds on FanDuel, and you would need both selections to win.

Futures betting

A futures bet is a long-term wager on a season-long outcome. Odds for these bets generally come out over the offseason. Many of the most popular options receive year-round attention from bettors. Futures betting examples include choosing the winner of the next Super Bowl or NFL MVP, picking which team will win a specific division, or choosing over or under on the total regular season wins for a specific team.

Example: A popular team right now is the Detroit Lions. Wagering on them to win the Super Bowl at +1400 odds is a future bet.

Live betting

After NFL games kick off, many online sportsbooks also offer live betting. This is real-time wagering as the action plays out on the field. It’s a fast-paced style of betting in which the odds and offerings will update and shift as the game plays out. The standard NFL wagers are generally available for live betting, and there are also options for betting on specific game instances, such as the result of a current drive or quarter.

Example: The Dolphins and Eagles game this week has kicked off, and you wagered on the Dolphins -2.5 while the game is happening. This is a live bet.

Betting on the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the biggest football betting event of the year, as well as the most-watched sporting event in the United States. On game day, bettors have hundreds of options, including standard choices such as a moneyline bet on the winner and QB passing props, as well as things like the result of the opening coin toss.

You can also check out Super Bowl odds on a year-round basis via the futures market. Many sportsbooks will release odds on the winner of the next big game before the current edition has even gone final. For the game itself, look-ahead lines are often available before the matchup is finalized, while the actual game odds are official as soon as it’s set.

The 2023-24 NFL season concludes with Super Bowl 58 on Feb. 11. As the season moves along, you can place your bets on the winner at any time. You can also try your hand at wagering on NFL division odds, NFL playoff odds, and NFL MVP odds

How NFL odds work

For each NFL game, you’ll find the odds for the spread, moneyline, and total at online sportsbooks. You can also click an individual game listing to see the other available bets for that matchup. Here’s an example of what you’ll see, followed by more details about how the main wagers work.

NFL betting FAQs

Where can you bet on the NFL online?

This depends on where you live in the US. The selection of betting sites in a state where sports betting is legal depends on who has a license to operate there. LSR provides information on which legal sportsbooks are available in your state.

What’s the easiest NFL bet to win?

There isn’t an NFL bet that’s necessarily easier to win in comparison to others. All bets carry risk, and there’s no way to win all of the time. For those new to betting on football, simple and straightforward wagers such as moneylines, props, and futures can make for good starting points as you learn the ropes.

What is the best NFL betting site?

No sportsbook will always have the best odds on the NFL or an individual game or wager at all times. The best advice is to shop around and compare the odds at multiple sportsbooks before placing your bets.

How much do you win for a $100 NFL bet?

The return for a winning $100 bet will depend on the odds for that wager. As an example, a winning $100 bet at odds of -110 carries a profit potential of $90.91, while the same stake at +110 offers a chance to win $110.

How do you beat NFL point spreads consistently?

There is no set way to beat NFL point spreads consistently. It’s a challenging wager to win, and even the most seasoned handicappers struggle to profit on a long-term basis. A magic formula that works all of the time simply doesn’t exist.
