College football Week 3 odds and analysis

LSU vs. South Carolina

LSU rebounded from an opening week loss to USC with a 44-21 win over Nicholls. Through two weeks, Garrett Nussmeier has thrown for 610 yards, eight TDs, and one pick. South Carolina is a perfect 2-0. The Gamecocks kicked off their season with a 23-19 win over Old Dominion and followed with an impressive 31-6 victory over Kentucky.

Alabama vs. Wisconsin

Alabama has cruised through the first two weeks of the campaign, outscoring Western Kentucky and South Florida by a combined 105-16. Jalen Milroe has bolstered his Heisman Trophy odds, throwing for five TDs and rushing for four more. Wisconsin is 2-0, picking up double-digit victories over Western Michigan and South Dakota.

Memphis vs. Florida State

Memphis has opened the season at 2-0. The club kicked off the campaign with a 40-0 victory over North Alabama and followed with a 38-17 win over Troy. Florida State is looking for answers. The Seminoles were ranked 10th in the preseason poll, but following consecutive losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College, FSU is aiming to right the ship in a hurry.

Washington State vs. Washington

Washington State is one of two teams remaining in the Pac-12, along with Oregon State, following the latest round of conference realignment. The rivalry with Washington, now a member of the Big Ten, continues this season. Washington has won two straight over the Cougars and holds a 76-33 all-time series lead. The two clubs enter this showdown with matching 2-0 records.

Texas A&M vs. Florida

Texas A&M and Florida begin SEC play against each other in Week 3, with the Aggies as slight road favorites. The Gators are 1-1, rebounding from a 41-17 loss to Miami with a 45-7 win over Samford. Texas A&M opened its season with a home loss to Notre Dame and bounced back with a convincing win over McNeese. The most recent meeting between these programs took place in 2022, a 41-24 victory for Florida.

West Virginia vs. Pittsburgh

For the latest chapter of the Backyard Brawl, West Virginia is a road favorite against Pittsburgh. The Panthers lead the all-time series 62-41-3, and the programs have split the last two meetings. Pitt picked up a 38-31 home win in 2022, and West Virginia took last season’s matchup by a score of 17-6 at Mountaineer Field. The Mountaineers are 1-1 so far, while Pitt is 2-0 following a one-point win over Cincinnati.

Oregon vs. Oregon State

Oregon is one of the top favorites in College Football Playoff odds. The Ducks have had a tougher-than-expected time over the first two weeks, escaping with close wins over Idaho and Boise State. Despite their shift to the Big Ten, their rivalry with Oregon State continues this season. The clubs have split their last four matchups, with Oregon winning 31-7 last season. The Beavers have also opened at 2-0.

Colorado vs. Colorado State

In last season’s meeting, Colorado survived and pulled out a 43-35 overtime win over Colorado State. The Buffaloes have won six straight in the series and hold a commanding 68-22-2 all-time lead. Colorado is 1-1 so far this season, defeating North Dakota State in the opener followed by a 28-10 loss to Nebraska. The Rams are also 1-1, losing 52-0 to Texas and bouncing back with a 38-17 win over Northern Colorado.

Georgia vs. Kentucky

Georgia remains the top favorite to win this season’s national title. The Bulldogs have mowed down the opposition for the first two weeks, outscoring Clemson and Tennessee Tech by a combined 82-6. Kentucky kicked off its season with a 31-0 win over Southern Miss and followed with a 31-6 loss to South Carolina. Georgia leads the all-time series 63-12-2 and won last year’s meeting by a score of 51-13.
