The eyes of the sports world shift to Augusta National Golf Club this week for the 88th edition of The Masters. As always, anticipation is incredibly high for the first golf major of the season as the world’s best descend on Georgia to compete for the iconic green jacket.
Interest in the Masters seems to grow with each passing year, yet legal online sports betting is not available in Georgia. Since it’s not legal to bet on sports in the state, are there any viable betting alternatives for Georgia residents to explore for the Masters? Let’s take a look.

Status of legal sports betting in Georgia
Sports betting is not legal in Georgia. There has been a concerted effort by some state lawmakers to change that in recent years, but has yet to result in change. Most recently, there was a push to advance a package on legalization with the goal of letting voters decide this November.
The initiative fell short on the last day of the session. It has been a similar story with previous attempts, including a 2022 initiative that also came up short on the last day of the session. The status of Georgia sports betting will not change in the current year, but efforts toward legalization are expected to ramp up again in 2025.
Masters betting alternatives in Georgia
While it’s not legal to bet on the Masters in Georgia, there are alternatives to explore. Several daily fantasy sports apps and social sportsbooks are available in the state. DFS proposals were discussed during the recent push to legalize sports betting.
However, the sites have not been specifically outlawed or legalized to date. They are open for business as we await the opening tee of the 2024 Masters. Let’s take a look at one of the most popular DFS apps in Georgia and its offerings for the Masters.
Underdog Fantasy
Underdog Fantasy is a popular DFS platform that offers pick’em games. The site is a go-to option for DFS players in numerous markets, especially in states in which online sports betting hasn’t been legalized. The most popular offerings on Underdog are similar to betting on props.
There are various higher or lower options available at Underdog right now for the Masters. For example, you can make the call on Jon Rahm going over or under a benchmark number of strokes for the opening round, and you can include a range of choices on one entry for a chance at greater returns.
Underdog also has draft contests available, ranging from smaller entry contests to larger multiple player pools that offer a chance at larger prizes. You simply draft a roster of six golfers and earn fantasy points based on how they perform.
