Both the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills made trades after their Monday Night Football bout to cap Week 6 of the NFL season. With a few weeks left until the Nov. 5 trade deadline, the Jets acquired Davante Adams, and the Bills acquired Amari Cooper, with some draft picks involved in both deals.
How will these moves impact betting lines and NFL futures? We’re taking a look at the initial movement for the Jets and Bills in NFL Week 7 odds and for futures bets.
Jets odds movement following the Davante Adams trade
After Monday’s 23-20 loss to the Bills, the New York Jets (2-4) dropped to a 39% chance to make the playoffs, per Austin Mock of The Athletic. Acquiring Adams moved the Jets to a 46% chance to make the playoffs, according to that model.
The Jets now have odds of around +145 to make the playoffs at most NFL betting sites. Their odds to win the Super Bowl are sitting at around +3000, and those odds had approached +4000 last week after the team fired Robert Saleh. They’re getting +2000 odds to win the AFC and have a line of 9.5 or 10.5 for total wins.
Losing to the Bills significantly hurt the Jets’ chances to win the AFC East, and they’re still longshots to win the division, but they have shifted from +700 to +500 at some books in odds to win the AFC East after the trade.
The Jets will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in a Sunday Night Football matchup this week and have shifted from 1.5-point underdogs to 1.5-point favorites following the acquisition of Adams.
Aaron Rodgers is still a longshot in NFL MVP odds for what would be his fifth such award. The veteran quarterback is among the favorites to win Comeback Player of the Year, however, at odds of +450.
New York sent a conditional third-round pick to the Raiders for Adams, which will become a second-round pick if Adams earns All-Pro status or is on a roster that makes the AFC championship.
Bills odds movement following the Amari Cooper trade
The Bills’ defense and running game impressed in their win over the Jets as they snapped a two-game skid, giving Buffalo some steam in futures odds and Josh Allen a bit more momentum in the MVP race.
Following the trade for Cooper, Buffalo has moved from +1000 to +850 to win the Super Bowl at FanDuel Sportsbook. The Bills have dipped from +500 to +400 to win the AFC at some books and have -370 odds to win a fourth straight AFC East title.
The Bills already had a 90% chance to make the playoffs, per The Athletic, and the trade only shifted their odds to 91%. Books have them at -1100 in odds to make the NFL playoffs.
The Buffalo Bills will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 7 and are an 8.5-point home favorite, which is up a tick from the lookahead line of 7.5 points.
Allen was the MVP favorite with odds of around +300 prior to Buffalo’s two-game losing streak. Following Monday’s win and the trade, he shifted to +475 at DraftKings Sportsbook and is holding higher with +650 odds at BetMGM. Only Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes have shorter odds to win the MVP.
In order to land a potential No. 1 receiver for Allen, the Bills dealt a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Browns and got a sixth-round pick for 2025 back.
