Sunday Night Football betting results

Below is the full betting recap for 2023-24 SNF games.

Week 1: Dallas Cowboys 40, New York Giants 0

It was expected to be a competitive affair of two NFC East rivals when the Cowboys visited the Giants to open the season’s Sunday Night Football slate. That expectation would prove to be wildly off the mark. Dallas dominated the action, forcing three turnovers, and scored a pair of defensive/special teams TDs en route to a shutout win. The visitors easily covered as field goal favorites, while under was the correct call on the 44.5-point total line.

Week 2: Miami Dolphins 24, New England Patriots 17

The visiting Dolphins struck first with a 23-yard field goal and then proceeded to take a 17-3 lead at halftime. The Patriots came back to make it interesting, but it wasn’t enough in a seven-point defeat. Highlights of the game included a pair of TD runs from Raheem Mostert. Miami got the cover as a two-point road favorite, while the total sailed under the 46-point line.

Week 3: Pittsburgh Steelers 23, Las Vegas Raiders 18

The Raiders kicked off the scoring in front of the home crowd with a 32-yard TD strike from Jimmy Garoppolo to Davante Adams. The Steelers took control of the game from there and went into the final frame with a 23-7 lead. Las Vegas came back to make the score respectable but came up short in a five-point defeat. Pittsburgh got the cover as a three-point road dog, with the total going under the 44-point line.

Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs 23, New York Jets 20

The defending champion Chiefs visited the Jets as 8.5-point favorites. After they got out to a quick 17-0 lead in the first quarter, it looked as though they were set to cruise to an easy win. New York woke up and made a game of it, tying it at 20-20 heading into the fourth quarter. Kansas City escaped with the win on a Harrison Butker 26-yard field goal. The underdog Jets covered, while over was the right choice on the 41-point total.

Week 5: San Francisco 49ers 42, Dallas Cowboys 10

It was expected to be a competitive affair for these longtime rivals as the Cowboys visited the 49ers. The hosts had other ideas. San Francisco got out to a quick 14-point lead and never looked back, exiting with a 32-point win. Brock Purdy and George Kittle hooked up for three TDs during the dominant victory. The 49ers got the easy 3.5-point cover and nearly cleared the 45.5-point over/under on their own.

Week 6: Buffalo Bills 14, New York Giants 9

The Bills were 15-point favorites at kickoff over a visiting Giants team that was without Daniel Jones. Tyrod Taylor got the start in his place, and he and the New York defense delivered an inspired effort that nearly resulted in an upset. Josh Allen hit Quintin Morris for a late 15-yard TD to seal the victory. The underdog Giants easily covered, while the total went well under the game-time line of 43.5 points.

Week 7: Philadelphia Eagles 31, Miami Dolphins 17

It was a meeting of two of the early season’s best as the Dolphins visited the Eagles as field goal underdogs. The game was knotted 17-17 late in the third quarter, but Philadelphia handled the scoring the rest of the way. Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown hooked up for a touchdown, followed by a Kenneth Gainwell rushing TD as the hosts got a 14-point win and easy cover. Under bettors made the right choice on the 52-point line.

Week 8: Los Angeles Chargers 30, Chicago Bears 13

The Chargers got a big first-half performance from Justin Herbert, who finished with three TD passes and 298 yards through the air. Chicago’s rookie QB Tyson Bagent struggled in his second outing, throwing two interceptions on the night. The Chargers got the cover after coming in as 9.5-point home favorites. The final score was just slightly under the total mark of 46.

Week 9: Cincinnati Bengals 24, Buffalo Bills 18

The Bengals won their fourth straight game with a home victory over the Bills. Joe Burrow threw for two touchdowns and 348 yards in the victory, as the Bills continued to struggle to find consistency. The Bengals covered the spread after coming in as 1.5-point favorites. The final tally in the game was well under the line of 51 points.

Week 10: Las Vegas Raiders 16, New York Jets 12

The Raiders were victorious their second straight game under interim coach Antonio Pierce. Rookie QB Aidan O’Connell got the start again and threw for 153 yards with one TD and one INT. The Raiders got the cover after coming into the game as +1 home underdogs. The final score was under the total line of 35.5 points.

Week 11: Denver Broncos 21, Minnesota Vikings 20

The Broncos extended their winning streak to four straight games with a dramatic home victory thanks to a late TD pass from Russell Wilson to Courtland Sutton in the final two minutes. Joshua Dobbs continues to be solid overall at QB for Minnesota, but he had two turnovers in this one. The Broncos failed to cover the spread after coming in at -2.5, and the final score was just under the over/under line of 43 points.

Week 12: Baltimore Ravens 20, Los Angeles Chargers 10

The Ravens’ defense forced four turnovers, while Lamar Jackson threw for 177 yards and one touchdown to lead the team to a road win. Justin Herbert was evaluated for a concussion but returned to the game. Baltimore covered the spread after coming in as a three-point favorite. The final tally was significantly under the line of 49 points.

Week 13: Green Bay Packers 27, Kansas City Chiefs 19

The Packers picked up a big home win after shutting down the Chiefs’ offense for much of the first half. Jordan Love threw for three TDs in the win, with WR Christian Watson catching two of those before leaving the game late with an injury. The Packers came in as six-point underdogs in the game, and the final score was just slightly over the line of 44 points.

Week 14: Dallas Cowboys 33, Philadelphia Eagles 13

The Cowboys remained unbeaten at home, shutting down the Philadelphia offense en route to a one-sided victory. Dak Prescott threw for two touchdowns with zero interceptions in the win, while Jalen Hurts was kept out of the end zone as a passer and a rusher. Dallas easily covered the spread after coming in at -3.5. The final score fell under the total line of 52.5 points.

Week 15: Baltimore Ravens 23, Jacksonville Jaguars 7

The Ravens held onto their spot as the top team in the AFC, as QB Lamar Jackson threw for a touchdown and also led Baltimore in rushing en route to this road win. QB Trevor Lawrence entered the concussion protocol after the game, and some costly turnovers hurt Jacksonville. Baltimore easily covered after coming in as a four-point favorite. The final score was well under a total line of 42.5.

Week 16: New England Patriots 26, Denver Broncos 23

The Patriots pulled off an upset win on the road, with help from a strong performance by QB Bailey Zappe, who threw for two TDs and 253 yards. New England got the cover after coming in as a seven-point underdog. The final score was well over the line of 37.5 total points.

Week 17: Green Bay Packers 33, Minnesota Vikings 10

The Packers picked up a road win over the Vikings, a team that struggled mightily at home during the season. QB Jordan Love threw for three TDs and ran for another. The 23-point margin of victory for Green Bay easily covered the spread. The final tally was just over the total line of 42.5 points.

Week 18: Buffalo Bills 21, Miami Dolphins 14

The Bills clinched the AFC East with a second straight win against the Dolphins, locking this one up on the road with help from QB Josh Allen’s two TD passes. Buffalo got the cover after coming in at -2.5 for the game. The final score was under the total line of 48 points for this game.

Sunday Night Football history/trends

Sunday Night Football first became a regular part of the NFL schedule in 1987. The broadcast window was initially reserved for later in the season before becoming a permanent weekly fixture. ESPN provided coverage from 1987-2005, with TNT sharing duties from 1990-97.

NBC took over the broadcast in 2006 and remains the exclusive home for Sunday Night Football. The SNF time slot has become the marquee game of the week. The schedule provides the flexibility to change games in the latter part of the season in the event that an originally scheduled game becomes less interesting.

Since 2006, all 32 teams have played on SNF. The Dallas Cowboys lead the way in appearances over that time frame with 58, while the Jacksonville Jaguars are last with just two. A handful of clubs have a strong track record when playing in this time slot:

For some other clubs, the bright SNF lights have been much tougher to handle:

There were 18 Sunday Night Football games last season. Here’s how the betting results shook out for those games:
