BetMGM data on Week 6 underdogs

Several point spread and moneyline underdogs are attracting interest this week at BetMGM Sportsbook. There’s also a handful of games that appear close to a coin flip.

Popular underdogs on the spread

Ole Miss at South Carolina (+8.5)

Ole Miss travels to South Carolina for this SEC tilt. The Rebels are 4-1 and looking to rebound from a 20-17 home loss to Kentucky. The Gamecocks are 3-1, most recently picking up a 50-7 home win over Akron.

At BetMGM, bettors are leaning slightly toward South Carolina to get the cover. It’s an even split on tickets, but 52% of the handle is on the hosts plus the points. The most recent meeting between these programs happened in 2020, a 59-42 win for Ole Miss.

Utah State (+27.5) at Boise State

It has been a tough start to the campaign for Utah State, which is 1-3 and riding a three-game losing streak. Despite that, 53% of spread bets on the game at BetMGM are on the Aggies to get the cover.

Boise State is 3-1, with its defeat coming at the hands of Oregon. Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty has surged in Heisman Trophy odds following several explosive performances. Boise State took last season’s meeting between these programs, 45-10.

Popular moneyline underdog bets

UCLA (+1800) at Penn State

UCLA heads east for a Big Ten battle with Penn State, which is seventh in the latest AP Top 25 poll. The Bruins are 1-3 and riding a three-game skid, losing 34-13 to Oregon last time out.

The Nittany Lions are 4-0 following a 21-7 victory over Illinois. At BetMGM, 81% of moneyline bets and 58% of the handle have come in on UCLA to pull off the upset as heavy road underdogs.

Tennessee at Arkansas (+400)

Tennessee is a perfect 4-0 to begin its campaign and ranks fourth in the latest poll. The Volunteers are big favorites for this trip to take on Arkansas. The Razorbacks dropped to 3-2 with a 21-17 loss to Texas A&M last time out.

The Volunteers have won all four of their games by double digits, most recently taking down Oklahoma 25-15. Over at BetMGM, 62% of moneyline bets and 84% of the handle are on Arkansas to get the win.

Potential upsets based on the odds

Missouri at Texas A&M (-2.5)

This week’s lone matchup of ranked teams will see No. 9 Missouri hit the road for a date with No. 25 Texas A&M. The Tigers improved to 4-0 with a double overtime win over Vanderbilt last time out.

The Aggies are 4-1, winning four straight after losing their opener to visiting Notre Dame. Texas A&M took the last meeting between these schools in 2021 by a score of 35-14. As the tight spread indicates, sportsbooks anticipate a close matchup.

Michigan at Washington (-1.5)

It’s a rematch of last season’s national championship game, a 34-13 win by Michigan. The Wolverines are 4-1, with three straight victories since a home loss to Texas. They’ve won their last two games by matching 27-24 scores.

Washington dropped to 3-2 with a road loss to Rutgers last time out. Both sides are well off the pace in this season’s College Football Playoff odds, but a convincing win for either one could spark some movement in their respective lines.

Were there any big college football upsets last week?

There were several outright upsets during last week’s action. Colorado defeated UCF 48-21 as a +12.5 road underdog.

Kentucky handed Ole Miss its first loss of the campaign, picking up a 20-17 upset as a +15.5 road dog. Utah fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 23-10 home loss to Arizona after walking onto the field as a -7.5 favorite.

On the spread, Miami was a hefty 17.5-point favorite over visiting Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes had to hustle for two fourth-quarter scoring drives to escape with a 38-34 win.
