College football Week 12 betting previews

Georgia vs. Tennessee betting preview

Defending national champion Georgia is a perfect 10-0 on the year, picking up a 52-17 win over Ole Miss last week, the team’s eighth win by 10 or more points. The Bulldogs hold down the top spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings as they travel to take on 7-3 Tennessee. The Volunteers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 36-7 loss to Missouri. Georgia has a 27-23-2 lead in the all-time series and has won six straight over Tennessee.

Washington vs. Oregon State betting preview

Washington is fifth in the latest CFP poll and is atop the Pac-12 standings. The Huskies are 10-0 following a 35-28 home win over a tough Utah squad last week. Oregon State, meanwhile, is 8-2, with two straight wins since its last defeat at the hands of Arizona. Washington has a 68-35-4 advantage in all-time meetings between these schools, with the two most recent games each coming down to a field goal and each team winning one.

Texas vs. Iowa State betting preview

Texas is ranked seventh with a record of 9-1. Since its lone defeat in a shootout to Oklahoma, the club has ripped off four straight wins. The Longhorns travel to take on 6-4 Iowa State, which picked up a 45-13 road win at BYU last week. Texas needs some help and a victory here to crack the top four of the CFP rankings, while Iowa State can improve its bowl positioning with an upset. Texas is 4-5-1 against the spread, with Iowa State at 6-4.

College football Week 12 futures report

The chase for spots in the College Football Playoff is nearing its conclusion. Michigan is still a slight favorite over Georgia to win the national title. In the latest CFP rankings, those two teams are joined by Ohio State and Florida State. According to the CFP committee, the hierarchy goes like this: Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, and Florida State.

Behind those four squads, just four clubs appear to be at least in striking distance: Washington, Oregon, Texas, and Alabama. Interestingly, Alabama has moved up the board for odds to win the national title and is now in the third spot. All eight teams are in action this week, so we’ll gain some additional clarity once we have results of those games.

The Heisman Trophy race has taken another turn. Oregon QB Bo Nix has taken over as the betting favorite, supplanting Washington QB Michael Penix Jr., who holds down the second spot. The two Pac-12 quarterbacks are in the midst of prolific statistical seasons. The teams squared off earlier this campaign, with Washington taking a 36-33 thriller.

In third is LSU QB Jayden Daniels, who is fresh off a record-setting performance. In last week’s 52-35 win over Florida, he became the first QB in FBS history to have at least 350 passing yards and 250 rushing yards in the same game. Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. has moved into the fourth spot as his solid campaign for the 10-0 Buckeyes continues.
