Cowboys vs. Steelers Props: Player Props For Dak Prescott & More

The Dallas Cowboys will be at the Acrisure Stadium for Sunday Night Football to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a matchup between two historically great teams looking to ignite their playoff ambitions in 2024. NFL Week 5 odds narrowly favor the Steelers at home in these teams’ first meeting since 2020 (a matchup Pittsburgh won).

The over/under line anticipates a tough affair with a Cowboys team that can rack up the yards and a Steelers defense that is among the best in the league. There’ll also be plenty of player props to choose from. We also cover a PA sportsbook promo and TX sportsbook promo before the matchup.

Player props for Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

How Dak Prescott could get over 255.5 passing yards

Prescott has been one of the top passers in the NFL for the last nine seasons, averaging 258.7 passing yards per game throughout his career, and in recent seasons the Dallas Cowboys have drifted away from their run-heavy offense into a passing-hungry team.

Through four games, Prescott is averaging 268 passing yards per game, the third-most in the NFL, while completing 63.8% of his passes and throwing six touchdowns. Take out a quiet Week 1 performance, and he is averaging 297.3 yards on 39 attempts per game. The Steelers’ defense has been excellent at shutting down rushing attacks, too, allowing just 86.8 yards on the ground per game — the third-fewest in the NFL.

That likely won’t change the Cowboys’ offense too much on Sunday Night Football; they’ve struggled to run the ball efficiently all season and rely on Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to create yards in the passing game. In his current form, Prescott feels like he could dice up most defenses.

How Dak Prescott could get under 255.5 passing yards

The fear is that Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense get swallowed up by one of the NFL’s best defenses. The Steelers’ defense is sixth in expected points added, per RBSDM, and is allowing just 174.5 passing yards per game. The Cowboys don’t have a run game to lean on, either — they’re averaging just 75.3 rushing yards per game in 2024, the fewest in the NFL. That means the Steelers may be able to just turn their attention to shutting down Prescott.

They can rely on the likes of T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Alex Highsmith to disrupt and slow Prescott down, too. The Steelers’ defense has 11 sacks on the season and is fourth in pressure rate, per PFF.

How Najee Harris could get over 58.5 rushing yards

Najee Harris has struggled for efficiency this season and throughout his NFL career. He’s rushed for over 1,000 yards in all three of his seasons in the NFL but has averaged under four yards per attempt and 63.6 yards per game. He’s a big, bruising back who fights for yards but doesn’t have electric speed and has struggled behind an offensive line that hasn’t always been the best at run-blocking.

He’s currently averaging a career-low 3.4 yards per attempt and just 57 rushing yards per game, but prior to Week 4, Harris was averaging 70 rushing yards per game. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be taking on one of the worst run defenses in the NFL on Sunday. The Cowboys are allowing 145.8 rushing yards per game, so there’s scope for Harris to attack a weaker defensive front and beat his rushing yardage total, especially with Jaylen Warren likely missing from Sunday’s game, too. That could mean more carries again.

How Najee Harris could get under 58.5 rushing yards

Week 4 will likely be an anomaly in Harris’ season. The running back carried the ball 13 times for 19 yards in the loss, averaging just 1.5 yards per attempt against, statistically, the second-worst run defense in the NFL. The likelihood of that happening again is slim, but the Cowboys held the Giants to just 26 rushing yards in their Week 4 win. There is talent on that defense, and if the Cowboys can get more out of Mazi Smith to combine with the edge threats of Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence, the Steelers could struggle.

Harris’ lack of efficiency means big plays are harder to come by, and that means he’ll have to work hard for every single yard. Per PFF, Harris has just one designed run of 15 yards or more in 2024, and just five runs of 10 yards. Every game has been a slog, and that means he could struggle again.
