France head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one of the leading contenders to lift the trophy, having last done so in 2018. With France’s World Cup odds among the shortest in most outright betting markets, expectations are high for another deep tournament run from Didier Deschamps’ side.
Drawn into Group I alongside Senegal, Norway, and Iraq, Les Bleus will be expected to progress comfortably into the knockout rounds as they chase a third World Cup title. Currently sitting top of the FIFA World Rankings, France once again boasts one of the strongest squads in international football. Below, we’ll take a look at their Group I schedule, outright odds, and potential path to the Final.

France’s Path to 2026 World Cup Final
While France find themselves in a tough Group, we still think they’ll finish top of Group I. If they do so, France could potentially face Ghana in the Round of 32. Still a difficult game, but one Didier Deschamps’ side should come through reasonably comfortably.
In the Round of 16, France could face Germany. Two iconic World Cup sides against each other, we expect France to win that one. Germany should improve on their recent World Cup displays, but this French outfit should have more than enough to dispatch the four-time winners.
It won’t get easier for France, as they could then face Brazil in the quarterfinal. This depends on where Brazil finishes in their group, but at this stage, it’s the most likely potential quarterfinal fixture.
Heading into the semifinals, France’s most likely opponent will be Spain. Another mouth-watering clash, but one we expect France to win. We think the Final will be against Argentina, a repeat of the 2022 World Cup Final.
