Jets vs. 49ers Prop Odds: Player Props For Christian McCaffrey & More

The San Francisco 49ers will open their season with a Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Jets as both teams enter the year with high expectations. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET, with ESPN on the broadcast.

Aaron Rodgers returns for the Jets after missing nearly all of last season with a torn Achilles. The California native has struggled in recent playoff games at San Francisco, but optimism is high regarding his potential at the helm of a talented Jets squad.

The Niners dealt with multiple holdouts and a couple of injuries during training camp, yet the NFC champions appear to be entering the season with a full arsenal of weapons available, led by Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey

We’re taking a look at a couple of player props for McCaffrey and for Jets receiver Garrett Wilson ahead of this NFL Week 1 matchup, plus a sportsbook promotion from bet365 Sportsbook.

Player props for Jets vs. 49ers

How Christian McCaffrey could top 36.5 receiving yards

The New York Jets might have the best defensive line in the NFL, so Kyle Shanahan could limit McCaffrey’s usage as a rusher. Still, McCaffrey’s snap count is always secure, and Brock Purdy could look to get the ball into his hands in space with some quick passes.

Last season, McCaffrey averaged 35.3 receiving yards per game, but that number rose to 38.7 receiving yards per game over the final 10 games of the campaign. The Jets funneled the seventh-most receiving yards (646) to running backs last season on 83 receptions.

How Christian McCaffrey could miss 36.5 receiving yards

McCaffrey’s workload last season was relatively unprecedented, and he comes into this season nursing a calf injury. The San Francisco 49ers coaching staff might use their lead back more sparingly, and it would be hard to top this number without sufficient volume, since the Jets’ defense rarely gives up explosive plays. The Jets’ defense tied the Ravens for the fewest yards per play (4.6) allowed last season, and their personnel should have eyes on McCaffrey when he leaves the backfield to run a route.

How Garrett Wilson could top 69.5 receiving yards

Wilson could be primed for a huge season if Rodgers stays healthy. When Rodgers was with the Packers, the four-time MVP often locked onto top targets such as Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. Last year, Wilson drew 9.9 targets per game, which was the fourth-most among wideouts. His quarterbacks included Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Trevor Siemian, so having Rodgers under center marks a huge upgrade.

Opponents averaged the highest percentage of yards through the air (63.6%) when facing San Francisco last season, since the 49ers have an elite front seven that makes it tough to run, and their offense puts up plenty of points.

There aren’t really other weapons for the 49ers’ defense to respect in this Jets passing attack, so San Francisco could bracket Wilson in every passing situation. Allen Lazard, Mike Williams, and Tyler Conklin aren’t going to command much help from safeties.

The Niners selected cornerback Renardo Green out of Florida State in the second round of the NFL Draft, and he’s talented enough to contain Wilson when he lines up in the slot. Rodgers has struggled against the San Francisco pass rush in recent meetings with Nick Bosa and company, and protection is necessary to get the ball out to your best weapon.
