Chargers vs. Cardinals Odds & Props: Player Props For J.K. Dobbins & More

The Arizona Cardinals (2-4) will look to bounce back from a road loss when they host the Los Angeles Chargers (3-2) this Monday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET, with ESPN on the broadcast.

The Chargers are 2.5-point favorites on the spread, and the Cardinals are at +120 on the moneyline in NFL Week 7 odds. The over/under line sits at 44.5 points.

Arizona could be without explosive rookie receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (concussion) and right tackle Kelvin Beachum (hamstring) for this Monday Night Football matchup. The Chargers had to place multiple players on injured reserve during their Week 5 bye but still coasted to a 23-16 win in Denver in Week 6. Cornerbacks Ja’Sir Taylor (leg) and Kristian Fulton (hamstring) are questionable this week, along with receiver Ladd McConkey (hip) and edge rusher Joey Bosa (hip).

Below we check out a couple of player props for this Week 7 matchup. We also cover an Arizona sportsbook promo ahead of the game. If you are looking for option in California, check out CA sportsbook page.

Player props for Chargers vs. Cardinals

How J.K. Dobbins could get over 72.5 rushing yards

The Los Angeles Chargers have employed one of the most run-heavy offenses in the NFL under new head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Dobbins leads the team with 16.3 carries for 87.6 rushing yards per game, and his workload is more secure with Gus Edwards (ankle) on injured reserve.

The Arizona defense has allowed the fourth most rushing yards per game (153) in the NFL this season, along with the highest third-down conversion rate (49.25%) to opposing offenses, so the Chargers could see plenty of possession in this primetime road game. The Chargers’ offensive line looked much stronger last week with starting tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater back from injury. Dobbins excels on outside zone runs that depend on good blocks from offensive tackles.

How J.K. Dobbins could get under 72.5 rushing yards

The Arizona Cardinals are averaging 23.3 points per game at home versus 17.3 points per game on the road since the start of last season. If Arizona takes a sizable lead, the Chargers could have to abandon their run-heavy approach to a degree.

Arizona’s defense is equally vulnerable against the pass, and Justin Herbert just threw for a season-high 237 yards against a tough Broncos defense. While Gus Edwards is out, the Chargers gave work to rookie Kimani Vidal and Derius Davis last week, so Dobbins still has some competition for carries.

How Kyler Murray could get over 252.5 passing and rushing yards

Murray is one of the more explosive dual-threat quarterbacks in the game, and he’s rushed for 97 yards on seven attempts in each of his last two starts after strangely accounting for just 3 yards on one carry in a blowout loss to Washington in Week 4. The Chargers’ defense is allowing 18 rushing yards per game at 4.3 yards per carry to quarterbacks this season.

For his career, Murray is averaging 246.5 passing yards per game at home. That number is down (227.6) under new coach Jonathan Gannon but is still nearly 30 yards per game higher than his average on the road. The Chargers’ secondary is extremely banged up, with Asante Samuel Jr. on injured reserve and Kristian Fulton and Ja’Sir Taylor missing practice time. Trey McBride could step up as a receiving option if Marvin Harrison Jr. is inactive.

How Kyler Murray could get under 252.5 passing and rushing yards

The Cardinals have been inconsistent this season. Murray has been hot in the first half and cooled off completely in some matchups, as well as looking disinterested and befuddled at times. The Chargers have a ferocious pass rush and several athletic linebackers who could help contain Murray, preventing him from breaking long runs.

That defense held Justin Fields to just 6 rushing yards on six carries in Week 3, and there’s a chance Joey Bosa will return this week. If Harrison Jr. can’t play, Michael Wilson is expected to lead the receiving corps, and he’s also dealing with an ankle injury. The Los Angeles defense is yielding the sixth fewest total yards per game (289.2) in the NFL this season and is averaging the eighth most takeaways (1.8) per game.
