Buffalo Bills (+1.5) at Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5)

The Bills are destined to ultimately have to go through Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes yet again to have a chance at the Lombardi Trophy, with Buffalo’s thrilling 27-25 win over the Ravens on Sunday evening cementing the collision course these two squads have seemingly been on since early in the season. Buffalo’s recent history against Kansas City is downright perplexing — the Bills have beaten the Chiefs in four consecutive regular-season meetings, including three straight at Arrowhead, but they’ve lost each of the last three postseason matchups, the last two by a total of nine points.

The Chiefs commemorated Reid’s 300th total career coaching victory by inching closer to a three-peat with a 23-14 win over the Texans in their divisional-round matchup Saturday. KC methodically went about yet another playoff win by relying primarily on the pillars that are Mahomes, Travis Kelce and solid team defense. Mahomes never completed a single pass to DeAndre Hopkins, Hollywood Brown or JuJu Smith-Schuster, once again corroborating the defending champions’ ability to win a game in seemingly any fashion.

The Bills are 2-2 ATS as road underdogs since the start of the regular season and 5-7 against the number in playoff games overall since Josh Allen became a full-time starter in 2019. Buffalo’s playoff losses to Kansas City in the Allen-Mahomes era have come by a total of 23 points, with the largest having come by 14 in January 2021.

The Chiefs are 13-6 ATS in playoff games since Patrick Mahomes became a full-time starter in 2018, but they’re only 3-6 against the number as home favorites since the start of the regular season.

The AFC title game has opened with an over/under of 47.5 points.
