The regulator of Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks has provided an early look at who plans to launch in just over two months.

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis uploaded a list of 69 “gaming registrations” as of May 1. It includes 28 online gambling operators, 22 content suppliers, eight platform providers, and 11 compliance and integrity-related suppliers.

There will likely be additional names added to list by the time private Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks launch on July 13.

Which online casinos are coming to Alberta?

Alberta will have some of the most well known brands in the U.S. and Ontario fighting for their chunk of the market:

  • BallyBet and its Monopoly-branded platform
  • BetMGM
  • BetRivers
  • Caesars, which will launch three platforms: Caesars Sportsbook which includes access to casino games as well as its two standalone casino platforms, Caesars Palace and Horseshoe Online.
  • DraftKings and its Golden Nugget brand
  • FanDuel
  • Penn Entertainment‘s theScore Bet, which said it has as many theScore Media app users in Alberta as it does in Ontario
  • PointsBet, which sold its U.S. operations to Fanatics.

Other names on the list include Indigenous-backed platforms, such as Pure Casino Entertainment through Indigenous Gaming Partners Inc., as well as River Cree iGaming.

Any others?

One notable company missing from the list is bet365, which is expected to launch in Alberta.

The company operated in the Canadian gray market until 2022 when it switched to a regulated operator as part of the Ontario launch.

The list only reflects those that have paid their initial registration fees, the AGLC said, and there are “a number” of other operators at other stages of the registration process.

In mid-April, Service Alberta Minister Dave Nally told local media that 33 online operators had applied but only 20 had paid their deposits.
