At BetMGM Sportsbook, the following three matchups have received the most bets in terms of tickets: Georgia vs. Texas, Alabama vs. Tennessee., and Oregon vs. Purdue.
A number of point spread and moneyline underdogs are also attracting interest this week at the sportsbook. Additionally, there are a few games that appear to be close to toss-ups based on the latest lines.
Popular underdogs on the spread
Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State (+17.5)
Mississippi State is a sizable home dog for a visit from Texas A&M. The Bulldogs are 1-5, most recently suffering a 41-31 loss to Georgia. The Aggies are 5-1, most recently taking down Missouri by a score of 41-10.
On the season, Mississippi State is 3-3 against the spread, and Texas A&M is 2-4 on that metric. At BetMGM, 57% of the point spread bets on this game are calling for the Bulldogs to cover. Texas A&M won last season’s meeting between these squads, 51-10.
Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech (+10.5)
Notre Dame is a hefty road favorite versus Georgia Tech. The Fighting Irish are 5-1 and have won four straight. The Yellow Jackets have won two straight to bring their record to 5-2.
Georgia Tech has a record of 4-2-1 ATS, while Notre Dame is 3-2-1. The teams last met in 2021, a 55-0 win for the Fighting Irish. At BetMGM, 58% of the bets have come in on the Yellow Jackets to cover.
Popular moneyline underdog bets
Nebraska (+185) vs Indiana
Nebraska is 5-1 on the season, with a 14-7 win versus visiting Rutgers last week. Indiana, meanwhile, is 6-0 after a 41-24 victory over Northwestern.
The Cornhuskers’ lone defeat came in a 31-24 overtime home loss to Illinois. The Hoosiers have won all six of their games by 14 or more points. Many bettors at BetMGM are wagering on the upset, with 77% of the moneyline handle coming in on Nebraska.
Georgia (+165) vs. Texas
It’s one of the season’s most highly anticipated games between two of the favorites in College Football Playoff odds. Georgia is 5-1 so far this season, with its lone blemish coming via a 41-34 road loss to Alabama.
Texas is 6-0 and the top-ranked team in the latest AP Top 25 poll, most recently defeating Oklahoma by a score of 34-3. At BetMGM, 60% of moneyline bets are backing the Bulldogs to get the victory.
Potential upsets based on the odds
Alabama (-3) vs. Tennessee
It’s a meeting of 5-1 SEC teams that have their sights set on berths in the CFP. Alabama escaped with a 27-25 win over South Carolina last week, rebounding from an upset loss to Vanderbilt.
Tennessee, meanwhile, needed overtime to take care of Florida by a score of 23-17. Last season, the Crimson Tide notched a 34-20 victory over the Volunteers. Moneyline bettors at BetMGM are leaning toward the upset, with 73% of bets coming in on Tennessee.
Colorado vs. Arizona (-3)
Colorado is coming back from a bye week with a record of 4-2. Last time out, the Buffaloes suffered a 31-28 home loss to Kansas State. Travis Hunter is expected to play after exiting that game early with a shoulder injury.
Arizona is 3-3 and has dropped three of its last four, including a 41-19 road loss to BYU last week. Last season, the Wildcats posted a 34-31 win over the Buffaloes. At BetMGM, Colorado has attracted 89% of the handle to get the outright win.
Were there any big college football upsets last week?
Last week, a pair of ranked teams went down to defeat as favorites. Utah suffered a 27-19 loss at Arizona as a -5.5 favorite. Ole Miss, meanwhile, was a -3.5 road favorite versus LSU but lost in overtime by a score of 29-26.
There were also several notable covers on the spread by massive underdogs. Georgia took down Mississippi State by a score of 41-31 but failed to cover the 34.5-point spread. Alabama squeaked by South Carolina 27-25, missing the cover as a 19.5-point home favorite. And Illinois was a 21.5-point home favorite versus Purdue, but the Fighting Illini needed overtime to escape with a 50-49 victory.
