Louisiana Tech vs. NC State Odds & Props: Player Props For Jordan Waters & More

The NC State Wolfpack will look to bounce back from a blowout loss to No. 7 Tennessee in their Week 3 matchup versus the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at home this Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. The Wolfpack are favored by three touchdowns on the point spread, and the over/under line for the game is at 49.5 points. The game will be available on the ACC Network or to stream via Fubo.

Louisiana Tech has been off since Week 1, when the Bulldogs used six turnovers to top FCS program Nicholls, losing 25-17. LA Tech has listed quarterback Jack Turner as probable after he left the opener due to injury. NC State was run off the field in a 51-10 loss to Tennessee last Saturday in Charlotte, knocking the Wolfpack from their perch at No. 24 in the Top 25.

Below, we’ll take a look at some of the player props available for this non-conference bout from the college football Week 3 schedule. We also cover a sportsbook promotion from FanDuel Sportsbook.

Player props for Louisiana Tech vs. NC State

How Jordan Waters could get over 70.5 rushing yards

NC State is favored by 21.5 points at home, so the game script should favor a run-heavy approach. Waters did not even manage positive yards with seven carries for -4 yards in the blowout loss last weekend, but the Duke transfer rolled FCS program Western Carolina for 128 yards on 20 carries in his debut for NC State.

Waters averaged 5.4 yards per carry and 58 rushing yards per game for Duke last year, and his new offensive line is arguably superior. The competition should be much easier this week against an LA Tech defense that allowed a whopping 237.2 rushing yards per game last season, the second-worst mark among FBS programs.

If NC State jumps out to a comfortable lead, the coaching staff might spell Waters and give more carries to Hollywood Smothers and other backs. Smothers was more effective against Tennessee with 25 yards on six carries, and he turned three carries into 39 yards in the team’s opener against Old Dominion.

The Wolfpack could also find success passing against LA Tech and use this matchup as an opportunity to get quarterback Grayson McCall back on track after last Saturday’s disaster. The LA Tech defense might be significantly improved from last year, although we’re only analyzing its performance in a one-game sample against Nicholls in a game that took place in driving rains.

How Jack Turner could get over 1.5 passing touchdowns

Turner only made five full starts as a sophomore, and he managed to throw a touchdown in all five. That includes an impressive performance (27 for 42, 292 yards, TD, interception) against an elite Nebraska defense. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound passer appears to be capable of executing against Power Four teams.

NC State’s secondary has struggled so far this season, clearly against Tennessee’s Heisman candidate Nico Iamaleava, but that unit also gave up 211 passing yards and two touchdowns to Western Carolina quarterback Cole Gonzales

How Jack Turner could get under 1.5 passing touchdowns

This isn’t a great spot for Turner and the LA Tech offense on the road against a Power Four program that will be raring to dominate after getting blown out last week. NC State has advantages up front that could force Turner into rushed throws and turnovers, and the junior isn’t likely to get much help from his rushing attack.

The Wolfpack’s defense has been much worse in the red zone through a small two-game sample this season than it was last year. We could expect some positive regression for that unit under savvy coordinator Tony Gibson
