Pereira vs. Hill betting preview
Pereira (9-2) came to the UFC from the world of kickboxing, and has managed to win titles in two separate UFC divisions all in less than three full years with the organization. Since his move up from middleweight to light heavyweight, his defensive wrestling has appeared to be more of a liability. He’s had some difficulty keeping bigger opponents from taking him down, but that may not be an issue in this fight, where he faces an opponent who also generally prefers to stand and strike.
Hill (12-1) is also a tall, lanky striker who makes good use of his range and speed in the striking game. He won the 205-pound title last year with a decision victory over Pereira’s longtime coach, Glover Teixeira. Hill vacated the title after rupturing his Achilles tendon, and has not fought since that win over Teixiera 15 months ago.
Neither fighter is known for his ground work, so both are likely to get their wish to have this fight on the feet. Throughout his UFC tenure, Hill has not completed a single takedown, while Pereira has completed just one, against former champion Israel Adesanya. Both owe most of their victories to knockout finishes, and neither fighter has ever won a fight via submission. For knockout odds, check our full UFC 300 props article.
Also on the UFC 300 fight card, former featherweight champ Max Holloway is a +138 underdog against Justin Gaethje (-154) in a 155-pound fight for the ceremonial BMF title. In the UFC 300 co-main event, UFC women’s strawweight champ Zhang Weili is a heavy -485 favorite over challenger Yan Xioanan (+370). Checkout how to bet on UFC fights in our MMA betting guide.
