Ben Fowlkes is a writer for Legal Sports Report and has been covering the world of sports gambling since 2022. He’s been a sportswriter specializing in fight sports such as MMA and boxing for over 15 years, covering the UFC and other fight promotions for outlets such as USA Today, The Athletic, Sports Illustrated, and Yahoo Sports.
In those roles, Ben wrote multiple sports betting columns in addition to longform features, fighter profiles, interviews, and more. He served as president of the MMA Journalists Association and was nominated for journalist of the year at the World MMA Awards several times.
Ben is a published fiction writer whose work has appeared in several literary journals and anthologies, including the Best American Short Stories. His sports journalism was also featured as an honorable mention selection in the Best American Sports Writing collection. Since 2012, he has co-hosted the Co-Main Event Podcast, a weekly show focusing on the world of mixed martial arts.
Ben graduated from San Diego State University in 2003 and then received his MFA in creative writing from the University of Montana in 2006. He currently lives in Missoula, Montana, with his two daughters and one dog.
