The NFL has hit the midway point of the regular season with a flurry of activity at the trade deadline, and top online sportsbooks have full betting odds for every upcoming game in Week 9. The action starts early on Sunday when the Miami Dolphins (+2) face the Kansas City Chiefs in a showdown between top AFC teams in Frankfurt, Germany. Interim head coach Anthony Pierce says he will start rookie QB Aidan O’Connell this week against a New York Giants squad that is hoping to have QB Daniel Jones back under center. Sunday night sees the Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5) hosting the Buffalo Bills, and Week 9 concludes with the Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5) on the road against the New York Jets for a Monday Night Football battle of two clubs looking to make headway in the NFL playoff chase.

The Miami Dolphins moved to 6-2 on the season with a 31-17 home win over the Patriots on Sunday. Tua Tagovailoa threw for 324 yards with three TDs and one INT. WR Jaylen Waddle caught seven balls for 121 yards and one touchdown, while WR Tyreek Hill had eight catches for 112 yards and one TD. S Brandon Jones is out this week due to a concussion. CB Xavien Howard and TE Durham Smythe are questionable. RB Raheem Mostert sat out Wednesday’s practice with an ankle issue but is expected to play this week.

The Kansas City Chiefs dropped to 6-2 with a shocking road loss to the Broncos on Sunday, 24-9. Playing with an illness that required an IV treatment the night before the game, Patrick Mahomes was intercepted twice and kept out of the end zone entirely. The Kansas City running game was held to 59 yards, and the Chiefs committed five turnovers on the day. Mahomes played through the flu and suffered visible injuries to his non-throwing hand, but stayed in the game and isn’t expected to miss time. LB Willie Gay has a questionable tag due to a tailbone injury. RB Jerrick McKinnon is questionable with a groin injury.

Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons

The Minnesota Vikings improved to 4-4 on the season with a 24-10 win on the road against the Packers on Sunday but lost their starting QB in the process. Kirk Cousins threw for 274 yards with two touchdowns but left the game with a torn Achilles tendon, requiring season-ending surgery for the Vikings quarterback. Backup QB Jaren Hall came on in relief late and completed three of four passes for 24 yards. Hall will likely start this week. Minnesota has acquired QB Joshua Dobbs from the Cardinals for draft choices.

The Atlanta Falcons dropped to 4-4 on Sunday with a 28-23 road loss to the Titans. Desmond Ridder started the game at quarterback, but Atlanta pulled him in the second half after five sacks and one lost fumble. Ridder was reportedly evaluated for a concussion and later cleared. Taylor Heinecke came on in relief and threw for 175 yards with one touchdown. Head coach Arthur Smith announced that Heinicke will get the nod this week in place of Ridder. Bijan Robinson returned from illness and ran for one TD and 62 yards on 11 carries. WR Drake London left with a groin injury and is questionable this week. DT Grady Jarrett is done for the season with a torn ACL.

Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns

The Arizona Cardinals once again made their opponents work for it but still fell to 1-7 with a 24-17 home loss against the Ravens on Sunday. Joshua Dobbs threw for 186 yards with two TDs and two INTs, along with running in another touchdown. The Cardinals traded Dobbs to the Vikings this week for draft picks. Kyler Murray has returned to practice after beginning the season on injured reserve and could potentially take over at quarterback as early as this week. If he’s unable to go, the team will turn to Clayton Thune.

The Cleveland Browns dropped to 4-3 with a 24-20 road loss against the Seahawks on Sunday. QB P.J. Walker threw for 248 yards with one touchdown but was picked off twice as the Browns turned the ball over three times on the day. Deshaun Watson is currently expected to start at quarterback this week. DE Za’Darius Smith, CB Greg Newsome, and DE Alex Wright are all listed as questionable.

Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers

The Los Angeles Rams slipped to 3-5 after a lopsided 43-20 loss on the road against the Cowboys on Sunday. Matthew Stafford threw for 162 yards with one TD and one INT, but he left the game with a sprained thumb and did not practice on Wednesday. Backup QB Brett Rypien came in during the second half and completed five of 10 passes for 42 yards. The team hasn’t yet ruled Stafford out, but as of now it seems unlikely that he’ll play on Sunday. CB Cobie Durant left the game with a shoulder injury and is questionable.

The Green Bay Packers lost a 24-10 home game against the Vikings on Sunday, falling to 2-5 on the season. Jordan Love threw for 229 yards with one TD and one INT. Aaron Jones carried the ball just seven times for 29 yards, as Green Bay had just 74 rushing yards. T Yosh Nijman is questionable this week with a foot injury.

Washington Commanders at New England Patriots

The Washington Commanders fell to 3-5 on the season with a 38-31 home loss against the Eagles on Sunday. Sam Howell threw for 387 yards and four TDs with one INT in the offensive shootout, but the Commanders were outscored 28-14 in the second half. WR Curtis Samuel came in with a toe issue and left this game early, leaving him questionable. C Ricky Stromberg left with a knee injury and is also questionable. The club was active at the trade deadline, shipping DE Montez Sweat to the Bears and DE Chase Young to the 49ers for draft picks.

The New England Patriots are 2-6 after a road loss to the Dolphins on Sunday, 31-17. Mac Jones threw for 161 yards with two TDs and one INT, but the Patriots converted just one of nine attempts on third down. WR DeVante Parker left the game after a hard hit and was later ruled out after being evaluated for a possible concussion. He’s questionable for this game. WR Kendrick Bourne suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season. Other players carrying questionable tags include LB Josh Uche and OT Vederian Lowe.

Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints

The Chicago Bears are 2-6 on the season following a Sunday night loss on the road against the Chargers, 30-13. Rookie QB Tyson Bagent had a rougher outing in his second NFL game, throwing two interceptions and completing 25 passes on 37 attempts for a total of 232 yards. Justin Fields sat out a second straight game with a dislocated thumb but is reportedly progressing well, and the team expects an update on his condition early this week. The club has acquired DE Montez Sweat from the Commanders for a draft choice.

The New Orleans Saints improved to 4-4 with a 30-27 road win over the Colts on Sunday. Derek Carr threw for 310 yards with two TDs, and WR Taysom Hill had his best game of the season, with nine receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns. The team expects DE Payton Turner to return from the IR this week. TE Jimmy Graham and OG James Hurst are questionable.

Seattle Seahawks at Baltimore Ravens

The Seattle Seahawks are 5-2 following a 24-20 win at home over the Browns on Sunday. Geno Smith threw for 254 yards with two TDs and two INTs. WR Tyler Lockett made eight catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in the win. Defensive linemen Austin Faoliu and Bryan Mone are both expected to return from the physically unable to perform list this week. OG Phil Haynes is questionable with a calf injury.

The Baltimore Ravens improved to 6-2 thanks to a win on the road against the Cardinals on Sunday, 31-24. Lamar Jackson threw for 157 yards and one touchdown. WR Odell Beckham did not record a catch in the game and left with a stomach contusion but later returned. In his absence, the Ravens cobbled together receiving yards from a variety of sources, with five players finishing with multiple catches. There’s no word yet on Beckham’s status for this week. FS Marcus Williams returned to practice this week for the first time since his injury in Week 6.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 3-4 on the season with a loss on the road against the Bills on Thursday night, 24-18. Baker Mayfield threw for 237 yards with two TDs, despite a knee contusion that prompted the team to send him for an MRI. Mayfield was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and is expected to start this week. DT Vita Vea, S Kaevon Merriweather, and OG Matt Feiler are questionable.

The Houston Texans fell to 3-4 after losing 15-13 on the road against the Panthers on Sunday. CJ Stroud threw for 140 yards and ran for one TD, but the team was penalized 10 times on the day for a total of 70 yards. C Jarrett Patterson was carted off the field with an ankle injury and is questionable for Week 9. WR Robert Woods is doubtful with a foot injury.

Indianapolis Colts at Carolina Panthers

The Indianapolis Colts slipped to 3-5 after a 38-27 loss at home against the Saints on Sunday. Gardner Minshew threw for 213 yards with two TDs and one INT in the loss. RB Jonathan Taylor had his best outing since returning to the lineup, running for 95 yards on 12 carries. Zach Moss had been questionable, but he suited up and ran for one touchdown and 66 yards on 11 carries. LB Zaire Franklin left with a knee injury and is questionable for this game. OT Braden Smith is questionable with a hip injury.

The Carolina Panthers picked up their first win of the season on Sunday, beating the Texans 15-13 at home to move to 1-6 on the season. Rookie QB Bryce Young had one of his best games of the season, throwing for 235 yards and one touchdown. Chuba Hubbard got the bulk of the work at running back, as Miles Sanders was eased back into the lineup after injury and limited to two carries. LB Justin Houston left Sunday’s game with a hamstring issue. The team has five linebackers who are questionable, adding to an already battered lineup this week.

New York Giants at Las Vegas Raiders

The New York Giants fell to 2-6 with an overtime loss at home against the Jets on Sunday, 13-10. QB Tyrod Taylor was knocked out of the game in the first half with a rib injury and later ruled out. Undrafted rookie QB Tommy Devito came on but got few opportunities to throw the ball and finished with negative passing yards on the day. Daniel Jones has been sidelined with a disc injury in his neck, but he has been cleared for contact. The team is hoping he could return this week. TE Darren Waller did not practice this week and told reporters he could miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Las Vegas Raiders are 3-5 on the season following a 26-14 road loss to the Lions on Monday night, the team’s second straight defeat. On Tuesday, the team fired head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler. Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce takes over on the sidelines on an interim basis. Among his first actions as coach, Pierce announced that rookie QB Aidan O’Connell would get the start under center, taking over from Jimmy Garoppolo, who struggled in Monday’s loss after returning from a back injury.

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys improved to 5-2 after routing the Rams at home on Sunday, 43-20. Dak Prescott threw for four TDs with 304 yards through the air and one INT in the game. WR CeeDee Lamb had a breakout game, hauling in 12 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns. T Matt Waletzko is eligible to return from the IR this week. The Cowboys remain unbeaten at home this season but are 2-2 on the road. OT Tyron Smith is questionable with a neck injury.

The Philadelphia Eagles are 7-1 after a 38-31 road win over the Commanders on Sunday. Despite his knee issue, Jalen Hurts threw for 319 yards with four TDs through the air. A.J. Brown accounted for two of those and a total of 130 receiving yards. DT Jalen Carter left the game with a back injury and is questionable for Week 9. CB Bradley Roby is questionable with a shoulder injury.

Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals

The Buffalo Bills improved to 5-3 with a 24-13 victory at home over the Buccaneers on Thursday. Josh Allen threw for 324 yards with two TDs and one interception. TE Dawson Knox (wrist) is on injured reserve. WR Justin Shorter is expected to return from the IR this week after dealing with a hamstring issue. LB Baylon Spector and TE Quintin Morris are listed as questionable. Buffalo traded for CB Rasul Douglas at the deadline, but he hasn’t yet practiced with the team. Allen is dealing with a shoulder issue that kept him out of practice, but he’s expected to play.

The Cincinnati Bengals pulled off a 31-17 upset on the road against the 49ers on Sunday to move to 4-3 on the season. Joe Burrow threw for 383 yards with three TDs and seems to have benefitted from the extra week of rest over the course of the bye week. RB Chase Brown suffered an injury in practice and is on the IR until at least Week 12. LB Akeem Davis-Gaither sat out Sunday’s game with a knee injury and was limited in practice this week. RB Joe Mixon is listed as questionable with a chest injury.

Los Angeles Chargers at New York Jets

The Los Angeles Chargers snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 3-4 with a 30-16 win over the Bears at home on Sunday night. Justin Herbert threw for 398 yards and three TDs, while RB Austin Ekeler finished with 123 total yards and one TD receiving. The win was the first victory for the Chargers since their bye week. WR Joshua Palmer came into the game with a knee issue and appeared to aggravate it during Sunday night’s game but returned to finish the contest. His status for this week is unclear. TE Gerald Everett is questionable with a hip injury.

The New York Jets are 4-3 after a 13-10 overtime win over the Giants on Sunday. Zach Wilson threw for 240 yards with one TD, while WR Garrett Wilson hauled in seven passes for 100 yards. New York lost two offensive linemen, as Connor McGovern and Wes Schweitzer both left with injuries and have been added to the IR, forcing the team to use practice squad promotion Xavier Newman at center. Players listed as questionable include WR Randall Cobb and OG Joe Tippmann.
