UFC Fight Night: Aspinall vs. Tybura preview
Main event: Tom Aspinall () vs. Marcin Tybura ()
This main event will be Aspinall’s first fight back after his knee injury against Curtis Blaydes last summer. That injury resulted in his first UFC loss via injury TKO. It also came so early in the fight that we never got a chance to find out whether Aspinall (12-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was ready for a heavyweight challenge on the level of Blaydes.
Tybura (24-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC) is a different kind of test. While he might not look like the most impressive physical specimen, he is deceptively athletic and well-rounded. After reeling off five straight wins in the UFC, he dropped a decision to Alexander Volkov in 2021.
He’s since rebounded with back-to-back victories, both via decision. He’s also seen the scorecards in his last three fights, and six of his last eight, which is somewhat uncommon for a heavyweight.
If Aspinall is at full power, physically and mentally, he should have a lot of advantages in this fight. He’s the bigger man and potentially faster. He’s got decent submissions but also some fight-finishing ground-and-pound once he gets opponents on their backs.
But a lot of fighters have struggled in their first bout after a serious injury. Here, he’s once again fighting in front of a home crowd in London, which adds extra pressure to perform. Tybura isn’t an easy fighter to put away. His plan will likely be to test Aspinall’s conditioning after the long layoff by pushing him into the later rounds.
In his entire pro career, Aspinall has never been past the second round. Tybura has gone the distance in three-rounders 11 times. He also saw the scorecards in the only five-round main event he’s had inside the UFC.
A slower, longer fight is probably Tybura’s best chance to pull off the upset. If it’s the other kind of heavyweight fight — nasty, brutish, and short — that should favor Aspinall.

Co-main event: Molly McCann () vs. Julija Stoliarenko ()
The UFC seems to have an affinity for McCann (13-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC), especially on fight cards across the Atlantic. The flyweight out of Liverpool is a fan favorite in the UK, but she’s also somewhat limited as a fighter.
Her last time out in November, the UFC overmatched her against Erin Blanchfield, and the result was a one-sided submission loss for McCann that was over almost as soon as it started. This time she’s getting an opponent who knows her way around the submissions that have sometimes been a problem for McCann.
Stoliarenko (10-7-2 MMA, 1-4 UFC) is coming down in weight for this fight after losing four of her last five at bantamweight. She’s competed most of her career at 135 pounds and had her last fight at a 140-pound catchweight. Dropping down to 125 pounds here could present some challenges for a taller fighter like Stoliarenko, but she may need a change after going 1-4 since signing with the UFC.
Once McCann gets some momentum going on the feet, she can be hard to stop. Stoliarenko suffered a TKO loss in her last fight and has never finished a fight with strikes. Submissions account for 90% of her wins, so she likely needs to get this fight on the mat.
It could be hard to win a decision against McCann in London, so Stoliarenko might be wise to bank it all on finishing this fight with a submission.
