Speculation about who will be the top overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft has taken a few twists and turns. While that’s not necessarily anything new for the draft, the difference this time around is how dramatically NFL draft odds have shifted on Kentucky quarterback Will Levis. This is perhaps due to something as minor as a Reddit post.
After the first round has concluded in the NFL draft, here’s a look at updated odds for the second round for Levis. He remained undrafted despite rumors that he would be the first pick in the draft.
Latest Will Levis NFL draft odds for overall pick
Player to be drafted first in the second round: -330 (FanDuel Sportsbook)
At the start of draft week, the story the odds were telling was simple. According to lines from DraftKings Sportsbook, Alabama’s Bryce Young was all but assured to be the top overall pick, with odds as short as -2000 at one point. The Carolina Panthers had traded up to the first spot in a deal with the Chicago Bears in March. Reports indicated that the team was sold on Young after a series of evaluations and meetings.
At the time, Will Levis — a quarterback who finished his college career at Kentucky after beginning it at Penn State — was seen mostly as a long shot to be the first overall pick. Odds on Levis going first were as high as +4000 on Monday. That changed drastically on Tuesday, shortly after a Reddit user who claimed to know Levis posted on the site claiming that Levis had been telling friends and family he would be drafted first by Carolina on Thursday.
That’s a lot of line movement for an essentially anonymous internet post by a person who may or may not have any real information on Levis at all. But it did seem to prompt enough betting action on Levis to change his odds at multiple sportsbooks, including FanDuel and Caesars.
After the first round concluded on Thursday, Levis remained undrafted. He is a favorite to be one of the first picks in the second round on Friday night according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Other Will Levis NFL draft odds
Another option that FanDuel Sportsbook has is selecting the team that will draft Will Levis. All four of these teams are looking for additional help at the quarterback position. Three of the four are among the first 10 teams that are going in the draft on Friday night.
