San Francisco salted away a win in the NFC title game with an onside kick recovery in the final minute against the Lions. With that, the 49ers open at -2.5 favorites in Super Bowl 58. The Chiefs are at +118 on the moneyline odds, making them slight underdogs in their bid to win a second straight Super Bowl.
The 49ers came from 17 points down to beat the Lions 34-31 in the NFC championship game.
49ers weather major odds shifts to open as Super Bowl favorites
After a game that saw the team fall to the biggest Super Bowl longshot at halftime, the 49ers have now opened as the favorite to win Super Bowl 58. San Francisco opened the season at +700, then dropped to +800 at halftime in the NFC championship game. But after completing the second-half comeback, the NFC champs are slight favorites at -135 on DraftKings to win the big game.
Chiefs at +115 with 49ers now looking like likely NFC winner
After scoring 27 unanswered points and taking a 10-point lead in the NFC title game, the 49ers are back atop the favorites to win Super Bowl 58. The Chiefs have now moved to +110 on FanDuel, putting them behind the 49ers, who are at -140. That’s a significant shift from halftime, when the Chiefs were at -155.
49ers take over as Super Bowl favorites after Lions failed conversion
The 49ers’ odds to win Super Bowl 58 jumped to -145 on BetMGM after a failed fourth-down conversion by the Lions midway through the fourth quarter. San Francisco is now the favorite to win the Super Bowl, moving ahead of the Chiefs after taking over on downs with the lead.
49ers odds jump with first lead in NFC title game
A fourth-quarter field goal gave the 49ers their first lead of the NFC championship game, and the team’s odds immediately improved. San Francisco moved to a -400 favorite on FanDuel to win the conference title game with the lead change. The team also moved to +155 odds on BetMGM to win Super Bowl 58 after taking the lead.
Lions Super Bowl odds now longer than pre-game line
The moneyline odds on a Lions Super Bowl win have already seen some big swings. Prior to kickoff, Detroit was at +800 to win Super Bowl 58, according to FanDuel. Those odds improved to +180 when the Lions went into halftime with the lead. But after the 49ers evened the score in the third quarter, the line on the Lions has now fallen to +1000 on FanDuel.
Odds on the 49ers to win the Super Bowl have moved from +750 at halftime to +105 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Super Bowl odds shift coming out of halftime in NFC title game
Prior to the start of the Lions-49ers NFC championship game, the Lions were a +800 underdog to win Super Bowl 58, according to BetMGM’s John Ewing. Coming out of halftime, with the Lions leading the 49ers, the line on the Lions had moved to +180. The Chiefs were at +100 prior to kickoff, with that line moving to -155 when the Lions began to look like a more likely winner in the NFC.
Chiefs an early favorite in Super Bowl odds
The Chiefs are currently a -105 favorite in outright Super Bowl winner odds, according to FanDuel. Kansas City turned in a complete performance to beat the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game after coming in as slight underdogs on the road. No team has won back-to-back Super Bowls since the 2003-04 New England Patriots.
That Chiefs line was compiled while the Lions had a solid lead over the 49ers. With San Francisco showing more signs of life early in the second half, those odds could change.
