Chiefs favored over Ravens ahead of NFL Kickoff Game

How the Chiefs could win the game

The Chiefs enter the new campaign as the preseason betting favorite in Super Bowl odds. They defeated Baltimore in last season’s AFC championship game by a score of 17-10 after entering the game as 4.5-point road underdogs. Kansas City capped the campaign with an overtime win over the 49ers for its second straight Super Bowl victory.

The Chiefs now begin their quest for a three-peat, something that has never happened in the Super Bowl era. Patrick Mahomes returns to lead the way on offense. New arrivals include first-round draft choice Xavier Worthy. If Mahomes can quickly establish a rapport with Worthy and the rest of the offense, the Chiefs could be well on their way to a 1-0 start.

How the Ravens could win the game

The Ravens were the top-seeded team in the AFC last season and boasted the league’s best record at 13-4. In the AFC title game loss, the Ravens’ offense stagnated for the majority of the game. Much of last year’s cast has returned, but the club has also bolstered its ranks by bringing Derrick Henry to town.

If Baltimore can establish the run behind Henry early, that could open things up for Lamar Jackson and company. Combined with a solid performance from the Baltimore defense, that could be a recipe for a different result. However, further struggles for the offense could lead to a very long night for the Ravens.
