Kalshi, Catalist Add Regulatory Language In Reannounced Live Streaming Deal

Three weeks after Kalshi and Catalist Sports announced a live-streaming partnership that vanished from the internet within hours, the two companies reannounced the deal Tuesday morning.

However, there are slight differences in the most recent announcement. The agreement gives Kalshi exclusive access to Catalist Sports’ library of global sports live streams, which are now “subject to applicable regulatory requirements.” Catalist also provides streaming to regulated U.S. sports betting operators.

The new language was chalked up to compliance:

“It’s intended as a standard compliance qualification,” according to a spokesperson. “As with all Catalist Sports partnerships, use of our content is subject to the applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions where it is made available.”

Prediction markets have been taking a legal hit as of late. There are multiple courts that have found states should regulate sports contracts as betting. Kalshi, which did not respond to requests for comment, is barred from offering sports contracts in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Utah, and Washington.

What the deal covers

As the two previously announced in August, the agreement comes with tennis and soccer streaming. The agreement includes up to 65,000+ tennis matches annually with events such as the Australian OpenDavis Cup and World Tennis Tour. Soccer leagues including Ligue 1 and Série A are also included, though were not mentioned by name in the second announcement.

In addition, Kalshi has access to official low-latency data to create, manage and settle markets.

“Catalist Sports is our first streaming partner, and premium content of this caliber is the foundation of a best-in-class prediction market,” Kalshi’s Head of Market Operations Arjun Sawai said a in statement tweaked from the original release. “Pairing exclusive live video with official data from some of the world’s top international leagues puts everything traders need in one place — and reinforces our commitment to reliable, regulated markets.”

New quote removed ‘regulated prediction markets’

Sawai’s new quote appears more deliberately concerned over regulation, given the legal atmosphere.

Original quote:

“Our partnership with Catalist Sports significantly enhances the experience on Kalshi. Catalist Sports is the first sports streaming provider we have partnered with and access to premium official content is essential to building a best-in-class prediction market. By combining exclusive live streams with official data across some of the most interesting international leagues and competitions, we’re reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality, regulated prediction markets built on the most reliable sports content available.”

Kalshi corrections continue

Though this release was published by Catalist, it is not the first time Kalshi has had a partnership announcement clarified.

Kalshi deleted a post that dubbed itself the official World Cup predictions partner of FIFA. In reality, Kalshi had a branding partnership with ADI Predictstreet, FIFA’s actual prediction market partner.

In May 2025, Kalshi posted an agreement with Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence company xAI. After it was pulled back, a Kalshi spokesperson told Bloomberg that “details of the announcement had not been mutually confirmed.” The deal was reannounced that July.
