More than four out of every five of the most engaged bettors in 2025 placed at least one parlay bet, the highest rate of any engagement segment, according to Kambi.
Kambi’s Sports Betting Trend Report 2025, released Tuesday, detailed statistics concerning parlays, player props, Super Bowl betting and more.
One chart showed a direct correlation between the percentage of parlay bettors and engagement, which Kambi ranks based on recency, frequency and monetary criteria. The most engaged group saw 83% of its bettors placing at least one parlay in 2025, while the least engaged segment reported the lowest parlay uptake at 44%.
Kambi: More parlays for Super Bowl
Parlays as a percentage of pre-match bets have increased the past six Super Bowls, with 49% of 2025’s Super Bowl LIX pre-game bets being parlays.
That is compared to 45% in 2024 and just 4% in 2020.
Of those Super Bowl pre-game parlays, 88% of them included at least one player prop leg. That is up from 84% in 2024, 76% in 2023 and 72% in 2022.
Props dominate most popular NFL markets
Seven of the top 10 NFL betting markets from the 2025 were player props, with three categories that went unranked in 2024.
The top four markets were unchanged, with point spread, moneyline, anytime touchdown and over/under listed.
The three new categories were the “more than X yards” player props for wide receivers (5th), running backs (7th) and quarterbacks (8th).
NBA player props bettors are more valuable
Basketball bettors that bet on player props proved to be more valuable that non-player-prop bettors in the 2024-25 NBA season, Kambi said.
Players that bet player props:
- make 3.6 times as many bets.
- generate 3.2 times more gross revenue.
- bet on 2.9 times more games that the bettors that do not bet on player props.
Basketball remains top sport
Basketball was the most popular sport in the US and Canada, though no basketball event made it into the top five events.
That was dominated by the second most popular sport, American football. Four NFL games – the Super Bowl, conference championships and a divisional round game – headlined the top four most popular betting events of the year. The PGA Tour‘s Masters tournament was the fifth most popular event.
First-time bettors flocked to football as well with the top five most popular events for new bettors all coming from the NFL:
- Super Bowl LIX
- Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (season opener)
- NFC Championship Game
- Baltimore Ravens vs. Detroit Lions
- Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers (Thanksgiving Day game)
