Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment plans to join the available online Ontario sports betting options.

Mohegan Gaming and Kambi Group announced a deal Tuesday for a mobile Ontario sports betting platform. Kambi will power Mohegan Gaming’s PlayFallsview brand in Ontario, according to a release.

“Once launched, this will mark MGE’s first online mobile gaming product outside of the United States and we’re really looking forward to our partnership with Kambi Group on this new venture,” Mohegan Digital President Rich Roberts said in the release.

Known Ontario brand

Mohegan Gaming operates Fallsview Casino in Niagara, Ontario. The company took over the operation of the Fallsview Casino in 2019.

Mohegan Gaming signed a 21-year management contract with Ontario Lottery and Gaming for the “Niagara Bundle.” The deal also included Casino Niagara and Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre.

Kambi grows Ontario presence

Kambi was active on the first day of commercial ON sports betting as a supplier for various operators. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario approved Kambi as a supplier in March.

“The Canadian market, and Ontario in particular, is full of potential for Kambi and our partners, so I am pleased to have agreed to this partnership with Mohegan and its Fallsview online mobile brand,” Kambi CEO and co-founder Kristian Nylén said in the release.

“I look forward to the combination of our industry-leading mobile sportsbook and the prominent Fallsview name as together we bring players in Ontario all the excitement of single and in-game wagering along with the unrivaled bet combinability our sportsbook offers.”

Kambi also is live in 17 US states, though the company has faced headwinds recently in the American market.

Kambi, Mohegan sports betting relationship

In 2019, Kambi and Mohegan Gaming entered an agreement for an online sportsbook in Connecticut. That deal unraveled last year as the partners announced an amended agreement that no longer included Kambi as Mohegan Gaming’s sports betting supplier in Connecticut.

That allowed Mohegan to partner with FanDuel Sportsbook for CT sports betting.

Kambi and Mohegan Gaming, however, continue discussions for exclusive partnerships where Mohegan Gaming gains market access.

“This partnership in Ontario is very much in line with that,” a Kambi spokesperson wrote in an email to LSR, while also noting Unibet is live in Pennsylvania through a deal with Mohegan Sun Pocono.
