Additional operators and suppliers are ready to go live when Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks launch next month.
There were four additional online casino content suppliers and operators added to each category in Friday‘s update from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis.
The most well-known name added to the roster did not fall into either of those categories, however. Genius Sports, which is one of the main sports betting data and content suppliers for the industry, is also approved to launch.
Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks launch on July 13.
New Alberta online casinos
Two of the new iGaming operators are new to the Canadian gambling market, while the other two already operate in Ontario.
Luxury Casino and Delta Casino are the brands currently in Ontario. The newcomers include Vegas Club Casino and DAZN BET, branded after the live sports streaming service.
DAZN BET received its license to go live in Ontario back in January but has not launched yet. The brand was announced in April 2022.
The update from last Monday added bet365 to the operators list.
The content suppliers added were Casimba Gaming, ELK Studios, NetGaming USA and Rising Digital Corporation.
Will Alberta win share like Ontario?
A recent study out of Ontario should give hope to those in Alberta that gamblers will move to the regulated websites instead of as many continuing to bet offshore as there are now.
Alberta estimates about 70% of the current market goes to offshore operators with just one legal option currently available through the lottery. That was around the same size of the offshore market in Ontario before private operators launched regulated sites launched in April 2022.
The Ipsos study shows that 91.1% of Ontario’s gamblers now play at regulated sites. Ipsos surveyed 2,012 gamblers in Ontario aged 19 and older in April.
