Victor Wembanyama lived up to the hype last season, and the Spurs’ second-year superstar is drawing heavy attention from sportsbooks and bettors coming into the 2024-25 NBA season.
While the San Antonio Spurs have a line of 36.5 wins this season and are getting +380 odds to make the playoffs in a tough Western Conference, Wemby is still drawing heavy action in the awards market at NBA betting sites, with Fanatics reporting the fourth-highest handle for MVP on the reigning Rookie of the Year. Wembanyama is also drawing the most tickets and handle for Most Improved Player and Defensive Player of the Year at Fanatics.
Below, we take a look at some of the specials that sportsbooks are offering on Wembanyama for this season.
Wembanyama odds: Statistical accomplishments for 2024-25
As a rookie, Wembanyama became the 15th player in NBA history to record a 5×5 line when he put up 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals, and five blocks in a loss to the Lakers. He became the youngest player in NBA history to post a 20-point, 20-rebound game, then later dropped a career-high 40 points with 20 rebounds, becoming the first rookie since Shaquille O’Neal in 1993 to achieve that state line.
When he posted a triple-double with blocks (27 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks), adding five assists for good measure, Wembanyama started a discussion about whether he could become the first player since David Robinson in 1994 to post a quadruple-double.
DraftKings Sportsbook is leading online sportsbooks in offering betting specials on whether Wembanyama will reach some lofty statistical achievements this year:
The book has -105 odds for him to produce double-digit blocks in a game again, which has only happened 28 times since 2000. The odds jump to +1500 for him to record 15-plus blocks and to +7000 for him to record 20-plus blocks in a game. Elmore Smith has the all-time record with 17 blocks in a single game.
More odds and lines for Wemby stats
FanDuel, meanwhile, has +900 odds for Wemby to record 12-plus blocks, which has occurred dozens of times in the modern era. The book also has him at +900 to record eight-plus steals in a game and +2200 odds for him to hit 10 3-pointers in a single game.
DraftKings is offering +120 odds for him to record 20-plus rebounds in a game, which he did twice last season. The odds rise to +800 for him to reach 25-plus rebounds in a game and sit at +3000 for him to reach 30-plus rebounds, which overall has happened five times since 2000.
As far as scoring, DraftKings has +160 odds for Wemby to score 50-plus points in any game this season and +700 for him to get to 55 points. The odds lengthen to +2500 for him to have a 60-point performance.
Then there’s the unicorn: A quadruple-double. FanDuel is offering +1200 odds for Wemby to reach that statistical achievement next season. As a rookie, he produced eight-plus assists four times and eight-plus blocks thrice, coming closest with 23 points, 15 rebounds, nine blocks, and eight assists in a game. Note that the Spurs have added veteran point guard Chris Paul, so Wemby might not be tasked with as much play-making on a regular basis.
FanDuel is also offering a special with +1000 odds for Wemby to record at least six triple-doubles this season.
