Pete Alonso, Gunnar Henderson Lead Odds Board For Tonight's Home Run Derby

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is the top favorite to win Monday night’s Home Run Derby, according to oddsmakers. Alonso, who won the HR Derby in 2019 and 2021, is currently a +320 favorite in this year’s event.

According to top online sportsbooks, other 2024 Home Run Derby favorites include Gunnar Henderson (+425), Bobby Witt Jr. (+475), and Marcell Ozuna (+500). Below, we’ll take a closer look at all the favorites in the 2024 Home Run Derby.

2024 Home Run Derby odds

Pete Alonso

Alonso won back-to-back home run derby titles and has made no secret of his enthusiasm for the event. Though he won the derby in 2021, his 514-foot shot was only the third-longest home run of that competition, behind Juan Soto and Trevor Story. Alonso has hit 19 home runs through 95 games so far this season.

Gunnar Henderson

This will be Henderson’s first All-Star appearance, but he enters this derby with high expectations. Among the participants this year, he’s the current home run leader with 28 dingers through 95 games. His longest home run of this season so far clocked in at 430 feet, so there’s some question as to whether his power will translate to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, where the longest distance from home plate to the outfield wall is 410 feet.

Bobby Witt Jr.

To win the HR Derby:

To hit the longest home run:

Witt trails many of this year’s other derby participants with 16 home runs so far this season. He does have the longest home run of the season among this group, however, with a 468-foot shot that puts him ahead of his next closest competitor by 20 feet. Witt is just 24, making him the second-youngest competitor (Henderson is 23). This year’s format could favor youth and endurance in the later rounds.

Marcell Ozuna

Ozuna is right behind Henderson in regular season home runs with 26 so far. He’s clocking in with an average home run distance of 409 feet this year. At nearly 34 years old, he’d be the fourth-oldest derby participant to win the title. He had the second-longest home run this season among this year’s derby participants, with a 448-foot blast that puts him behind just Witt.
