UFC 304 will go down in Manchester, England, on July 27. The scheduled main event is a welterweight title fight featuring champion Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad. Edwards is the -189 favorite in that 170-pound title headliner, with Muhammad as a +170 underdog.

Muhammad has campaigned for this title fight for over a year since beating former title challenger Gilbert Burns to give him his fifth straight victory at welterweight. Muhammad has not lost in his last 10 outings, but he did suffer an eye poke that resulted in a no-contest the last time he faced Edwards in 2021.

Edwards won the 170-pound title the following year, knocking out longtime champ Kamaru Usman with a head kick in the final round of a fight he was on his way to losing on the scorecards. Edwards would go on to win a decision victory in the rematch before defeating Colby Covington late last year. While his striking game has always been a threat, Edwards’ wrestling game has come a long way in recent years. Here, he gets another chance to defend the title in his home country, while Muhammad is hoping to make good on a title shot that has been a long time coming.

Co-main event analysis

In the co-main event, interim heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall is a -260 favorite against veteran heavyweight Curtis Blaydes, who comes in at +225. These two met in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in 2022, with Aspinall losing via injury TKO after blowing out his knee while throwing a kick in the opening seconds of the bout. Aspinall was out for a year with that injury but has won two straight since, including a first-round knockout of Sergei Pavlovich to claim the interim heavyweight belt last November.

Blaydes suffered a TKO loss to Pavlovich last year but has made his name as a perennial contender in the heavyweight class, combining a grinding wrestling game with powerful ground-and-pound. In eight years with the UFC, he’s only been defeated by three men. He’ll likely look to test Aspinall’s wrestling in this one, while trying to stay away from the big man’s punching power on the feet.
