Masters favorites for 2024
Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite to win the 2024 Masters. He’s the top-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking and already has two wins under his belt this season, including a win at The Players Championship last month. Scheffler won the Masters in 2022 and finished in a tie for 10th place at last year’s edition.
Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, the second and third-ranked players in the OWGR, are jockeying for second place in the latest odds. McIlroy won the Hero World Dubai Desert Classic earlier this season, and finished in third place at last week’s Valero Texas Open. He’s seeking his first Masters title, with his best finish coming in 2022 when he finished second.
Rahm is the defending Masters champion. In his six other trips to Augusta, he has booked four top 10 finishes. Following the last PGA Tour season, Rahm made headlines by joining LIV Golf. He has played in five tournaments on that circuit in 2024, finishing in a tie for 8th place or better in all of them.
Rounding out the top five are Xander Schauffele and Brooks Koepka. For his eight tour stops in 2024, Schauffle has finished in a tie for 10th or better six times. His best finish at the Masters was a tie for 2nd in 2019. Koepka finished in a tie for second with Phil Mickelson at last year’s edition, four strokes behind Rahm.
Behind the leaders, a pair of other former Masters champions are lurking in the top 10: Hideki Matsuyama and Jordan Spieth. Matsuyama won here in 2021 and has surged up to 12th in the OWGR, finishing in a tie for 12th or better at his last four tour stops. Spieth won it in 2022 and is ranked 18th, most recently finishing in a tie for 10th at the Valero.
What is the prize pool for this year’s Masters?
The prize pool for the 2024 Masters has not been officially announced yet. Looking back to last year, the total purse was $18 million, with $3.24 million for first place. That was a significant increase from 2022’s prize fund of $15 million and $2.7 million to first.
