Favorites to win the national championship

The Final Four comes our way on Saturday, April 6, from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. You can catch the action on TBS and TNT. Here’s a closer look at the teams that remain in the running to win it all.

UConn Huskies  ([metabet_core_dynamic_odds market=”bkc/ncaab_winner” query=”bkc/connecticut” site_id=”legalsportsreport”])

The defending national champions have been a dominant force through the first two rounds. UConn has had little trouble advancing, picking up convincing wins over Stetson, Northwestern, San Diego State, and Illinois.

The Huskies have a balanced attack with five players averaging 10 or more points per game, led by senior guard Tristen Newton with an average of 15. UConn will be heading to its seventh Final Four and seeking its sixth title.

Purdue Boilermakers ([metabet_core_dynamic_odds market=”bkc/ncaab_winner” query=”bkc/purdue” site_id=”legalsportsreport”])

The Boilermakers cruised through the first two rounds with dominant victories over Grambling and Utah State, and followed with an 80-68 win over No. 5 Gonzaga. They then advanced to the Final Four with a 72-66 win over Tennessee, covering the spread as a -3.5 favorite.

Senior center Zach Edey has led the team in scoring for all four victories. In the Elite 8 win over the Volunteers, he dropped 40 points and hauled in 16 rebounds. Purdue has advanced to the Final Four just twice, with the last appearance happening in 1980.

Alabama Crimson Tide ([metabet_core_dynamic_odds market=”bkc/ncaab_winner” query=”bkc/alabama” site_id=”legalsportsreport”])

The Crimson Tide have won the West Region and will square off with UConn at the Final Four. Alabama took down Charleston and Grand Canyon with ease in the first two rounds and followed with an upset over North Carolina in the Sweet 16.

The Tide defeated Clemson in the regional final 89-82, getting the cover as a -2.5 favorite. Senior guard Mark Sears topped the team with 23 points. He’s averaging 24.3 points for the tournament to date. This is the program’s first appearance in the Final Four.

NC State Wolfpack ([metabet_core_dynamic_odds market=”bkc/ncaab_winner” query=”bkc/nc_state” site_id=”legalsportsreport”])

The lowest remaining seed has been on fire. After ripping off five straight victories to win the ACC tournament, NC State has continued its winning ways at March Madness. The club has taken down Texas Tech, Oakland, and Marquette to advance to the Elite 8.

Senior guard DJ Horne is the team’s top offensive threat. He is averaging 16.8 points per game, along with 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists. The Wolfpack have reached the Final Four three times in program history, winning it all in 1974 and 1983.
