Beneil Dariush vs. Arman Tsarukyan

Dariush (22-5-1) seemed to be on his way to a lightweight title shot until his eight-fight winning streak got snapped in a one-sided TKO loss to former champ Charles Oliveira in June. This is Dariush’s first bout since that loss, and it’s a tough draw for a fighter trying to get back in the win column.

Tsarukyan (20-3) is younger, faster, and without any glaring weaknesses for Dariush to exploit. If not for a questionable judges’ decision in June of 2022, he could easily be riding an eight-fight winning streak of his own. Tsarukyan is extremely well-rounded, and he manages to be aggressive without being reckless.

Dariush has the edge in big fight experience and has been in the cage with more accomplished opponents than Tsarukyan has. Dariush has a reputation as a smart fighter with lots of ways to win. Against Tsarukyan, the challenge will be finding a path to victory that doesn’t get immediately shut down purely on the basis of the other man’s ability and athleticism.

Main event method of victory props

Dariush and Tsarukyan both have relatively even splits between wins by TKO, submission, and decision. All of Dariush’s losses have come inside the distance, and all but one were the result of knockouts. Tsarukyan has only been knocked out once, and that was in his second pro fight.

Main event round props

Tsarukyan has gone the five-round distance only once in his career and only has one first-round finish since coming to the UFC. Two of Dariush’s last six wins came in the first round, with another in the second.
