Breeders’ Cup 2023 Post Position Draw And Morning Line Odds

The 2023 Breeders’ Cup comes our way this week. It’s one of the biggest annual horse racing events, with 14 stakes races taking place this Friday and Saturday at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. 

Highlights include the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Friday and the main event of the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday. For the featured attraction, Arabian Knight is the morning line favorite. Read on for a preview and the latest 2023 Breeders’ Cup odds.    

Breeders’ Cup Classic odds

The 2023 Breeders’ Cup Classic takes place on Saturday, Nov. 4, with a post time of 6:40 p.m. ET. The race will be contested over 1 ¼ miles on a dirt track and has a purse of $6 million. The table below has the full field of entrants along with their morning line odds.

Morning line odds for the Breeders’ Cup Classic came out on Monday night. The following day, the first scratch was announced. Belmont Stakes winner Arcangelo, one of the early favorites at 7-2, was scratched due to a hind foot injury. 

The current betting favorite is Arabian Knight, who enters with three wins in four career starts. Trainer Bob Baffert has a record four wins at the Breeders’ Cup Classic, while jockey Flavien Prat rode the winner at last year’s event. 

Next up is White Abarrio, the recent winner of the Whitney Stakes, and Ushba Tesoro, who has $9.2 million in career earnings, including a victory at the 2023 Dubai World Cup. Last year’s winning trainer, John Sadler, is saddling Missed the Cut.   

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile odds

The 2023 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile takes place on Friday, Nov. 3, with a post time of 7 p.m. ET. The race will be run on a 1 1/16 mile dirt track and has a $2 million purse. The table below has the full field along with the morning line odds.

Running out of post position number six, Locked is the morning line favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. The Todd Pletcher entrant has two wins in three career starts, most recently winning the 2023 Breeders’ Futurity. 

Pletcher and Baffert account for six of the entrants in the 11-horse field. Three horses are tied for second on the board: Prince of Monaco, Timberlake, and Muth. At last year’s edition, Pletcher and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. led Forte to victory.

The Breeders’ Cup is a two-day event and one of the biggest attractions in horse racing. Five of the races will be on the first day, with a post time of 5 p.m. ET for the first and 7:40 p.m. ET for the last. Here are the races on day one:

How to watch the 2023 Breeders’ Cup

NBC Sports is the broadcast home for the 2023 Breeders’ Cup. All 14 of the big races will be available on the Peacock streaming service, while other parts of the network family will provide coverage on both days. 

The advance weather forecast for Santa Anita Park is calling for highs in the mid-70s for both days, with wind and precipitation not expected to be a factor.
