Diamondbacks head home on hot note
Arizona did exactly what it needed in Game 2 of the World Series, beating the Rangers 9-1 on the road. Now the series heads to Arizona on Monday, following an off day for both teams. The first pitch of Game 3 is set for 8:03 p.m. ET on Fox.
Merrill Kelly goes deep, saves Arizona’s bullpen
Not only did the Diamondbacks’ offense produce, but Merrill Kelly provided them with seven innings, only giving up one earned run. After a long Game 1, this is pretty much ideal. The offense picked up steam, and Arizona got to Jordan Montgomery, knocking in four runs before the seventh inning.
The Rangers’ offense fell flat, only scoring one run. Mitch Garver had the lone RBI and run, which was a home run that came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Other core hitters like Marcus Semien and Corey Seager combined for one hit and three strikeouts over eight at-bats.
