Want to bet on a New Jersey sports betting app? Then you’re in the right place.
There are nine legal NJ sports betting apps available in the state. All are licensed by the Division of Gaming Enforcement after rigid testing to ensure quality operations and proper geolocation.
Two of the betting apps are offered at the state’s racetracks Monmouth Park and The Meadowlands. The others are based in Atlantic City.
The first step to betting on mobile devices in New Jersey: Downloading an app.
By clicking on the links below, you can often find direct downloads to legal sports betting apps, or to the location on the App Store for iPhones and iPads. Most NJ sportsbooks have both iOS and Android betting apps.
Here are the current apps in NJ:
|Betting Sites||Bonus (T&C's Apply)||iOS App||Android App|
|DraftKings Sportsbook||$35 No Deposit & Up to $500 on deposit||Yes||Yes|
|Betstars NJ||Up to $500 in free bets||Yes||Yes|

While you might be able to download the app, in order to fund your account and actually bet, you must be within New Jersey’s borders.
Once you have an app, the next step in using a New Jersey sports mobile app is making a deposit. The options depend on the sportsbook, but here are the deposit methods that many of them accept:
Players do not have to go to a racetrack or Atlantic City casino to open or fund an account. It can always be done remotely, from the comfort of your home or anywhere else in New Jersey.
Once you fund a New Jersey sports betting app account, it is easy to get into action. The first step is to log into the app. This will require your log in and password.
You may see the betting lines without logging into the app at all mobile sportsbooks, except at DraftKings. The other sports betting apps permit viewing from anywhere. This does not require a New Jersey location. Making the wager, or simply logging in at some sites, requires geolocation technology to locate your device within state lines.
Once you are in the app, a menu will pop up. This is where you will find the listing of sports available. The options will include football, baseball, hockey, basketball, golf, tennis, auto racing, boxing, mixed martial arts, soccer and other events that may be going on in the world that day. A sport will usually not show up in the menu if there are no events available.
Find the sport that you would like to make a wager on and it will take you to a new menu. This will include all the different leagues within the sport.
For example, for football, there will be a section for NFL and NCAA. There may also be sections for futures, partial game wagers and proposition bets.
There are eight sports betting apps available in New Jersey. Some also have a physical presence at a racetrack or an Atlantic City casino.

New to the online sports betting crowd, PointsBet is a unique site that offers PointsBetting. After a three-week soft launch, it is now open to NJ players. However, it is only available on browser. Android and iOS apps are likely forthcoming from the sportsbook in the future.
You will find the odds when you click on a category within a sport. The options for games typically include a money line. Most events have totals. Sports like football and basketball also have point spreads. Baseball and hockey will post run/puck lines.
Prop bets may include which player or team will score first, alternative point spreads, totals on player or team performances and which team scores last, among others.
Futures bets are on a team coming in first place for a season. This may be for a division, conference or league championship.
Parlays are offered on most point spread and money line events. This is where a player wagers on two or more outcomes. Parlays often offer longshot odds because if any bets lose within it, the entire parlay loses. Ties bring the parlay down by one team with most parlays. For example, a three-team parlay with two winners and a push becomes a winning two-team parlay.
Some parlay cards will have special rules where ties always win or lose. Make sure to read the rules before betting.
Parlays are created in the betting menu. Add all the games that you would like to parlay to your list. Click parlay in the menu and it will combine all games. Some platforms have a specific parlay button that is clicked before picking the contests.
Football and basketball games have teasers available. This gives the players points on each spread within the teaser. For example, a three-point underdog becomes a nine-point underdog in a six-point teaser. Football teasers are usually six, six and a half and seven points. Basketball teasers are typically four, four and a half and five points.
Sides and totals may be teased. If a leg of a teaser pushes, the ticket drops by one team. For example, a three-team teaser with two winners and a push becomes a winning two-team teaser.
You will find wagers on events that have not completed in a part of the main menu. It will say “Pending.” Settled wagers will appear in the betting history, usually in a different category.
