Potential key missing players
George Kittle
Kittle was a first-team All-Pro at tight end this season after catching 65 passes for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns. The veteran has been a constant for the 49ers this season and one of the team’s best playmakers.
The latest update on Kittle and his injury is that his game status is “unspecified.” The 49ers hope that they’ll have Kittle back in practice this week and ready to go in time for the Super Bowl. There aren’t many tight ends in the NFL that can block and catch to the degree that Kittle can.
Arik Armstead
The last two seasons have been injury-plagued for Arik Armstead, but the defensive tackle is still one of the better players at his position in the NFL. Even in 12 games, Armstead notched five sacks and was a force as a pass-rusher and run defender.
He missed Thursday’s and Friday’s practices with knee and foot injuries, and the combination of the two left his status in doubt for Super Bowl 58. The 49ers’ defense has the depth to ride with Armstead, but he’s still one of the best at his position.
Oren Burks
The San Francisco 49ers have some of the best linebacker depth in the NFL, and Burks has been a contributor in his first two seasons in the Bay Area. He’s racked up 84 total tackles in that time and proved to be a valuable rotational linebacker.
Burks missed the 49ers’ divisional round win against the Packers, as well as the win over the Lions with a shoulder injury, and the possibility of the injury carrying into the Super Bowl appears to be a possibility.
