Dynamic-duo Rams looking for road upset vs. Cowboys
Coming out of a bye in Week 7, the Dallas Cowboys are 4-2 after a narrow win on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. Before that, they lost 42-10 against the San Francisco 49ers and dismantled the New England Patriots 38-3. They now look ahead to the Rams in Week 8.
The Los Angeles Rams, meanwhile, are 3-4 following a controversial loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 24-17. The Rams have wins this season over the Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts, and Arizona Cardinals. They’ve had close calls against the Cincinnati Bengals, 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, and, of course, the Steelers.
Rams offense versus Cowboys secondary
Los Angeles has quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has 1,908 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions. He’s completing less than 60% of his passes so far. His top two receivers, Puka Nacua, and Cooper Kupp, are candidates for 100+ yards each game. In Week 7, Nacua had eight catches for 154 yards. In Week 6, Kupp had seven receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Against the Cowboys, the Rams will face a weakened cornerback duo, with DaRon Bland and Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore has allowed two touchdowns this season. Bland is allowing 10 yards per reception. They’ll be tasked with defending two dynamic receivers.
Parsons, Lawrence and the rest of the pass rush likely key for Cowboys
It’s had some ups and downs, but the Cowboys’ pass rush — led by Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence — has managed 132 pressures, 16 sacks, and 19 quarterback hits this season. It will face off against a Rams offensive line that’s allowed 100 pressures, 12 sacks, 19 hits, and 69 hurries this season.
