The Ravens posted the best defensive numbers in football this season, yielding a league-low 16.1 points per game and 5.2 yards per pass. Baltimore held C.J. Stroud and the red-hot Texans offense to just 3 points in their first game of the postseason.
Lamar Jackson was 1-3 in his playoff career leading into this postseason. The Ravens were 1-5 in their previous six playoff games, with their sole win coming at Tennessee in the Wild Card round in 2021. Baltimore last appeared in the AFC Championship in 2013, when the Ravens beat the Patriots en route to a Super Bowl title.
The Chiefs have an extensive playoff history since Mahomes was paired up with Andy Reid, winning four AFC titles and two Super Bowls over the past five seasons. Mahomes had never played a true playoff road game prior to his 27-24 win at Buffalo in the Divisional Round.
Kansas City’s last matchup against Baltimore came on the road in 2021, and the Ravens prevailed, 36-35, with Jackson running for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns. The Chiefs won the previous four regular-season meetings with Baltimore. These franchises last met in the playoffs in 2011, and the Ravens rolled to a 30-7 win at home.
