Miami Dolphins Wild Card Injury Report — Jevon Holland Likely To Sit

The Miami Dolphins cruised into the playoffs with an 11-6 record, securing back-to-back postseason berths for the first time since the 2000 and 2001 seasons. However, Miami is a banged-up unit heading into its wild-card matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The two teams faced off in Week 9 in one of the NFL’s international games in Germany. The Chiefs won by a score of 21-14 and are on the spread for Saturday night’s rematch. You can watch the game on Peacock, with kickoff at 8 p.m. ET.

Potential key missing players

Jevon Holland

The third-year safety has emerged as one of the NFL’s elite defensive backs over the last two years. Injuries have restricted him to just 12 games this season, but Holland’s 90.4 PFF grade was the third-highest among all safeties in the NFL. A favorable schedule meant that the Dolphins allowed just 178 passing yards per game without Holland. However, against the NFL’s elite, the Dolphins will likely be looking to Holland’s presence in the secondary.

De’Von Achane

Achane has battled multiple injuries all season, but the rookie running back has still found a way to create history, carrying the ball 103 times for 800 yards at an insane 7.8 yards-per-attempt clip. The one-two punch of Achane and Raheem Mostert has given the Dolphins one of the most electric rushing attacks in the NFL, but they could be without both players on Saturday.

Not having Achane would mean the Dolphins would lose out on one of the best big-play threats in the NFL. Per PFF, 54% of Achane’s rushing yards came from attempts of 15 yards or more, and his 13 explosive runs were sixth in the NFL, despite only carrying the ball 103 times.

Tyreek Hill

Hill’s 2023 regular season helped solidify him as one of the best receivers of his generation, catching 119 passes for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns while emerging as a fringe MVP candidate and the frontrunner for Offensive Player of the Year. Over the last few weeks, though, he’s carried a few injuries into games and, as a result, his status for Saturday night is in jeopardy.
