Christian Genetski is taking over as the permanent CEO of FanDuel at the beginning of 2027, according to Front Office Sports.
Flutter CEO Dan Taylor told all employees in an email, according to the report. The timing of the non-public information leak is unusual given that Flutter reports its third quarter results on Wednesday.
Flutter’s stock opened Tuesday down more than 3% in early trading after shares rose 6.1% on Monday.
Taylor: Appointment key for ‘continuity’
Taylor praised Genetski’s contributions since he took over the role in May. Previously he had been FanDuel president since 2022.
“Christian has done a fantastic job leading FanDuel on an interim basis,” the email says, per the report. “He knows the business inside out, has been part of its growth from the beginning, and understands the team and the opportunities ahead.
“Making the appointment permanent gives FanDuel continuity at an important point in its growth and means the team can keep building on the progress already made.”
Genetski helped FanDuel bounce back
Genetski took over as the interim CEO at a time when FanDuel’s market share, and Flutter’s stock, was falling.
Flutter had to lower its adjusted EBITDA outlook for the year at its Q1 earnings after a misplay on promotions during the NFL season continued to drag FanDuel’s performance into 2026.
Peter Jackson, Flutter CEO at the time, showed confidence in Genetski.
“I’m delighted that Christian will lead the business,” Jackson said. “He has a strong track record at FanDuel and deep market knowledge, and we are confident he will build momentum and continue strengthening FanDuel’s position as the leading online sportsbook and iGaming operator in the US.”
