The weekly update of which operators are joining the Alberta online casino market did something it has not done before: decline.

The latest list of registrations from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis has 46 operator registrations, down from the 47 reported in its previous update. One of Cadtree Limited’s brands, Grizzly’s Quest, is no longer listed.

That brings the total brands registered in Alberta to 50, as Caesars and Penn Entertainment both include three brands each under their listings.

The number of registered sportsbooks and online casinos in Alberta is expected to increase before the market launches on July 13.

No explanation given for removal

Cadtree, owned by Super Group, likely knows why that brand is missing from the list, but did not respond to questions when reached by Lineups. The AGLC offered no explanation.

“AGLC is unable to comment on the individual status of operators and their registration,” an AGLC spokesperson told Lineups.

Cadtree’s application to trademark the brand was just run in Canada’s Trademarks Journal on June 10.

Cadtree now has four brands approved for Alberta, all of which operate in the Ontario market as well.

New Alberta online casino suppliers

There were two Alberta online casino critical gaming systems providers added to the registrations list along with sports betting supplier BtoBet.

BtoBet is quite familiar with the Alberta market already. It is the sportsbook tech supplier to PlayAlberta, the only legal iGaming operator in the province until the regulated market launches.

The online casino side, meanwhile, saw two significant online casino game companies approved for the market. AGS has developed more than 100 online game themes and offers more than 50 games available both online and in land-based casinos.

High 5 Games, meanwhile, lists hundreds of proprietary slots titles.
