Legal Missouri sports betting is less than a week away, meaning residents will no longer have to leave the state to bet with a regulated operator.
Sports bettors can begin betting in Missouri at midnight of Monday, Dec. 1. While that means missing most of NFL week 13, including the Thanksgiving games, bettors can bet on the Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.
While island games typically draw strong handle, the week 14 Sunday Night Football matchup between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs on Dec. 7 should undoubtedly be the busiest game of the week for Missouri sportsbooks.

- BetMGM
- Caesars
- Circa
- DraftKings
- Fanatics
- FanDuel
- Kambi (brand partner unknown)
- theScore Bet
- Underdog
Anyone that watches sports knows the biggest operators — BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings and FanDuel – but there are some lesser known books available as well.
Circa does not offer as wide a menu as the national operators but they take all action that comes their way instead of limiting or banning winning bettors. Underdog is best known as a daily fantasy sports operator but does offer sports betting in North Carolina.
TheScore Bet may sound unfamiliar, but the Penn Entertainment brand is replacing the ESPN Bet branded sportsbook after Penn and Disney mutually agreed to end the partnership.

Long time coming for Missouri sports betting
It was not an easy road to legalization in Missouri.
As a state senator, Secretary of State Denny Hoskins fought against sports betting legalization every year a bill to legalize it was in play. He routinely tried to tie legalizing sports betting to video lottery terminals, something the state’s casinos do not want added.
Eventually, Missouri residents barely approved sports betting by a tight margin, but Hoskins was not done with delaying the industry. While many in the state wanted the market to launch in the summer, Hoskins rejected emergency rules for sports betting.
That led the Missouri Gaming Commission to set the launch for Dec. 1, the latest date allowed by the legislation.
