FanDuel Sportsbook is opening a second retail sports betting presence in New Jersey thanks to an expanded partnership with Twin River.
FanDuel plans to open a temporary location in Ballys AC by the end of the year. That’s as long as the property is sold to Twin River as planned.
The temporary FanDuel Sportsbook will be located on the first floor of the casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. And FanDuel said a permanent sportsbook should be up and running by spring 2021.
The new book allows FanDuel a retail presence in both northern and southern New Jersey. FanDuel already runs the largest retail book in NJ sports betting thanks to its presence at the The Meadowlands.
FanDuel Sportsbook seeks to bolster NJ retail lead
Twin River and FanDuel already work together in Colorado. FanDuel runs a mobile and retail book on the Twin River license.
“The FanDuel Sportsbook is the clear market leader in New Jersey and we are excited to expand our retail footprint in the state to include Atlantic City,” said Matt King, CEO FanDuel Group. “We are excited to get started and be a key piece in Twin River’s transformation of the iconic Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino.”
“[FanDuel] are great partners and we are thrilled to work with them in another exciting, gaming-centric market like Atlantic City,” said George Papanier, president and CEO of Twin River Worldwide Holdings.
Big plans for Ballys AC
Panier added:
“The permanent sportsbook location is going to be one of the many exciting changes we have in store for the Bally’s property – a unique location just steps away from center boardwalk where millions stroll by annually. We look forward to breaking ground on this new space as soon as the closing is final.”
Twin River has also confirmed plans to launch a Bally’s-branded mobile sportsbook as soon as possible. A Bally’s online casino also makes sense.
Twin River acquired Ballys AC from Caesars in April this year.
