Another eight online casinos have joined the roster of approved Alberta online casinos.

There are now 43 operators that have conditional approval to launch when regulated Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks go live on July 13. Alberta is the second Canadian province to legalize online casino gambling, as Ontario launched its iGaming market in April 2022.

Along with those operators, key suppliers for both industries are now included on the registration list as well, which is updated weekly by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis. That includes data provider Sportradar, B2B sports betting supplier Kambi and content companies including Pragmatic Solutions and Skill On Net.

One thing is clear: gambling operators are not shying away from launching multiple brands in the new market. There are now five operators that plan to launch more than one skin.

Along with registering as a game supplier and platform provider, Skill On Net registered four of its brands. Those include smaller brands like Mega Casino, Slots Magic and Spin Genie, though its most well known brand is PlayOjo.

Apollo Entertainment also had three brands approved: Captain Cooks Casino, Casino Classic and Golden Tiger Casino. They join its Luxury Casino brand that already received approval.

Also joining the list is PowerPlay by Trillium Ventures, which received an Ontario license in January. It is mainly focused on sports betting but offers some casino games as well.

Still a bit behind Ontario licenses

Whether Alberta’s market will include as many operators and skins as Ontario is yet to be seen.

In its first year, Ontario had 46 operators with more than 70 skins. As of yesterday, there are 44 operators with 78 skins.
