At least 10 operators should be live on Dec. 1, the first day of legal Missouri sports betting.
The Missouri Gaming Commission sent an application update on Friday, which was the deadline to apply by in order to be live on day one. In total, 734 applications for sports betting operators and suppliers had been received as of Friday afternoon.
The list of 10 Missouri sportsbooks could grow, the commission noted. Applications postmarked for Sept. 12 will be accepted, so the commission expects the list to grow.
Day 1 Missouri sports betting operators
Seven of the 10 operators were known last Monday:
- Caesars
- Circa
- DraftKings
- ESPN Bet
- Fanatics
- FanDuel
- Underdog
Bet365, BetMGM and Kambi all joined the list on Friday.
Circa and DraftKings are the only two operators on the list that do not have a local betting partner. The two were selected by the Missouri Gaming Commission over FanDuel for untethered licenses.
Next steps for day one sportsbooks
The application deadline was just the first deadline the operators had to hit.
House rules and internal control details are due to the commission by Sept. 26. Temporary licenses are expected to be issued about a month later on Oct. 22.
Online sportsbooks can begin customer signup at midnight on Nov. 17.
Missouri sports betting details
Missouri was only a few votes away from missing out on sports betting for at least another year.
Just over 50% of Missouri’s voters approved the amendment to legalize sports betting last November.
The industry will be taxed at 10%. Revenue estimates by Legal Sports Report suggest the market could see up to $4.5 billion in bets and $500 million in gross revenue annually.
