Fanatics has launched a standalone online casino app in four states, part of a broader industry trend toward splitting sportsbook and casino products.

Fanatics announced the move Friday, marking a shift from its previous model of offering online casino games only within its sports betting app. The standalone Fanatics Casino app is now live in the following states:

Why a standalone casino app?

Fanatics joins a growing list of operators launching standalone casino apps to target casino-first users, moving away from early cross-sell strategies between sportsbook and casino products. The shift aims to capture higher-margin players with tailored experiences.

Caesars spent most of 2024 working on its Caesars Palace Online and Horseshoe apps. Both were part of a broader tech upgrade, including a casino-unique account system and shared wallet with the company’s retail properties. Caesars has reported strong results and indicated that most online casino growth now comes from these apps, with volume shifting toward slots.

Penn Entertainment followed with its Hollywood Casino app, built to serve slot-focused players who prefer not to navigate a sportsbook interface. In a recent earnings call, CEO Jay Snowden said the company has seen positive results, with increased engagement from customers primarily interested in online casino play.

Fanatics Casino details and incentives

The Fanatics Casino app includes slots, blackjack, roulette, video poker and live dealer games. Players can earn FanCash rewards on every wager, redeemable for bonus bets, casino credits or Fanatics merchandise. Fanatics Casino offers content from its own in-house studio as well as several leading B2B providers, including Light & Wonder, IGT and White Hat.

Fanatics entered the online gambling space in 2023 and offers online sports betting in 22 states and Washington, D.C. The brand ranks fourth in market share so far in 2025, at 5% of nationwide sports betting handle, behind FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM. Its share is notably higher in major markets, including 9% in Illinois and 6% in New York.

To promote the launch, Fanatics is offering a sweepstakes with a $2 million FanCash prize pool. Each $10 wager earns one entry, with weekly Thursday drawings through June. One winner each week will take home a $25,000 FanCash top prize.

A web-based version of the casino is live in New Jersey and West Virginia, with Michigan and Pennsylvania expected soon.
