The Michigan Gaming Control Board continues its efforts to stamp out unlicensed and unregulated online casino and sports betting operators.

On Monday, the MGCB sent 10 cease-and-desist letters to illegal offshore operators offering unregulated Michigan online casino gambling. All 10 of the online casino sites are owned by Apex Dynamics, a company based in Belize.

“The Gaming Control Board’s relentless dedication to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s gaming industry drives our efforts,” MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said in a release. “We will continue to take strong action to shut down illegal operations that undermine trust in Michigan’s legal gaming system.”

The MGCG issued the letters after finding that the 10 operators were violating Michigan law by offering unlicensed casino-style games. An investigation found that the sites violated multiple state statutes, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

The MGCB also said the operators require restrictive withdrawal conditions.

14 days to act

The MGCB has given the operators 10 days to cease illegal activities. If they fail to comply, the MGCB will pursue additional legal actions.

With the latest set of letters, Michigan regulators have taken action against at least 30 unregulated operators in the past two years.

Last year, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer added money to the budget to fight the unregulated industry, and the state kicked off a long string of action against Bovada. Previously, in 2023, Williams led a group of regulators in asking for federal help in offshore crackdowns
