BetCris is making its return to the US gaming ecosystem after nearly two decades, with plans to go live with Arizona sports betting this week.

The Arizona sports betting launch marks a significant step for the brand, which was once a well-known player in the American betting scene before exiting in 2007 due to the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act.

The sportsbook’s return is facilitated by Plannatech, a UK-based B2B sportsbook platform provider that secured an Arizona betting license through its partnership with the San Carlos Apache Tribal Gaming Enterprise.

Plannatech COO Adam Bjorn announced the launch on Friday, confirming that BetCris is now open for signups and available for download on iOS, with betting expected to begin in the coming days.

While Plannatech operates Prime Sportsbook in New Jersey and Ohio, it made no mention of the brand when acquiring its Arizona sports betting license.

Arizona’s sports betting landscape has seen its share of shake-ups, with brands like WynnBet, TwinSpires, and Betfred departing in recent years. However, the state imposes a low tax rate of 10% and benefits from its proximity to a large state without legal sports betting in California and a large customer base.

Arizona could serve as an ideal test market for BetCris’ US return, with plans to grow steadily rather than compete directly with industry giants like FanDuel and DraftKings.

BetCris will enter the market alongside another new name, Sporttrade, a sports betting exchange also preparing to launch in Arizona. As BetCris re-establishes its presence in the US, its performance in Arizona could serve as a blueprint for its future expansion efforts.
